I need closed captioning on Britbox. When I contacted them, they said I had to contact xfinity for help

I just received a gift subscription to Britbox. I am attempting to watch it on my xfinity streaming service. However, I can't get closed captioning on the TV. When I contacted Britbox, they said that xfinity receiver service 5.6.0 does not support closed captioning. When I asked how to get the correct receiver service so that I could get closed captioning on Britbox, their chat directed me to xfinity support. Please help.

Hi there @user_tukksr!  Thanks so much for taking the time to reach out to Xfinity Support.  We are so glad to hear from you and want to help in any way that we can to ensure that you are having the best experience with your service.  No worries!  You have reached out to the best team to help in any way that we can.  Can you tell us how you are accessing BritBox?  Are you accessing on a X1 device?

I am not sure whether we are accessing via an X1 box or not. We have Comcast cable connected to our TV, and as far as I can tell we are signing on to Britbox via our xfinity connection (speaking into the xfinity/Comcast remote with "Show Britbox" gives us their menu.

Our Britbox sub was given to us via a gift certificate provided directly from Britbox. In contacting Britbox initially for help, we learned that Britbox cannot provide closed captioning because we have something called Receiver 5.6.0 or something like that. Britbox then referred us to xfinity for further assistance. This is rather confusing and I am asking you for some help.

Okay no problem @user_tukksr.  When you access the app, are you able to access any settings menu?
