Collection on credit report, but current on account?

I have a ‘Comcast Cable’ collections that showed up on my credit report. It is now with a collection company. I have not been late with any payments since I opened our account in March 2023. I am current so why the surprise collection??? It is dated for September 2024 and I have received no communication about a past due balance from Comcast/Xfinity whatsoever (even though I am current on ALL payments). How can this be rectified?

user_i82s2b Hello there! Thank you for reaching out to our Xfinity Community Forums Team. I can see how this would be a concern, especially with how important credit is these days; I'd be concerned as well. I'm happy to help get you in the right direction today. Were you able to get any information from the collection agency on the account? Could this be from an previous address?

Thanks for your assistance. I have not received any information from the collection agency. I only have the information shown on my credit report and says the ‘first date of delinquency’ is listed as September 12, 2024. It could not be from a previous address as we were AT&T internet customers prior to March 2023. Is there department I can call to request more information?

user_i82s2b You are most welcome, I'm happy to help! Let me see if I may be able to find something. We do have a ticket process in place for certain scenarios. Worse case, you may have to dispute it with credit bureaus, which I've had to do that before for my own. Can you please send a Direct Message with your name, and your current service address?

Click the "Direct Message" icon or  https://forums.xfinity.com/direct-messaging
Click the "New message" (pen and paper) icon
The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there.
As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list.
A "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line.
Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
