Erroneous Equipment Charge – Xi6 Equipment Never Ordered or Used

Two years ago, I initiated a two-year Internet-only service agreement with Comcast Xfinity. At the time of enrollment, I explicitly stated that I would be supplying my own modem and would not require any Comcast-provided equipment. This was confirmed by the sales representative during our phone conversation.

Shortly thereafter, I received a small box containing equipment I neither requested nor needed. I contacted Comcast support by phone to report the unsolicited shipment and was clearly informed by the representative that:

1. I was not being charged for the equipment, and
2. I was not required to return it.

Based on this assurance, I did not retain the equipment, as I never intended to use it and had no obligation to store or return it.

Today, while renewing my Internet service for another year, I was presented with a message stating:

"Please return your old equipment within 10 days of receiving your new equipment to avoid being charged. Xi6 Equipment (currently leasing)."

This is the first time I have ever seen a reference to "Xi6 Equipment" or any indication that equipment was considered "leased." I have never used any leased equipment from Comcast and never agreed to such an arrangement.

To be clear:

- I never ordered or used this equipment.
- I was told explicitly that I would not be charged for it.
- I no longer have it, based on the representative’s verbal assurance at the time.

I request that Comcast immediately cancel any pending or future charges related to this equipment. Any attempt to retroactively bill me for equipment that was unsolicited, unused, and disclaimed by Comcast would constitute an unfair and deceptive billing practice.

Please confirm in writing that no charges will be applied to my account in connection with this equipment.
