Escalation ticket closed without contact – autopay discount removed after cancelling Voice

Yesterday I contacted Xfinity regarding the removal of my $10 Automatic Payments and Paperless Billing Discount after I cancelled Xfinity Voice.

I specifically requested escalation to a supervisor. I was told that no supervisor was available and that I would receive a supervisor callback within 24 hours. Escalation ticket [Edited: "Personal Information"] was opened.

Approximately three hours later, I received an automated message stating that the escalation had been “completed successfully.” I was never contacted by a supervisor or anyone else, and my issue was not resolved.

My Xfinity Internet was NOT cancelled or changed. It continues through the same community bulk agreement under which I was already receiving the $10 autopay/paperless billing discount. My automatic payments and paperless billing remain active with a stored bank account. The only service I cancelled was Voice.

I have now reviewed Xfinity's published APPD eligibility requirements. They state that the discount requires Xfinity Internet and automatic payments/paperless billing with a stored bank account. The FAQ specifically states that the discount stops if Xfinity Internet is cancelled. I did not cancel Internet.

I was also never advised when I cancelled Voice that my existing $10 monthly autopay discount would be removed.I was quoted a new monthly amount without being told that cancelling Voice would cause me to lose this discount.

If Xfinity maintains that my unchanged bulk Internet service became ineligible for APPD solely because I cancelled Voice, please identify the specific eligibility provision or policy that states this.

I am requesting review by an Xfinity employee who can resolve this billing issue and explain why escalation ticket [Edited: "Personal Information"] was closed without the supervisor callback I was promised.

Hi user_JEM! We appreciate you taking the time to reach out via our Xfinity Form regarding this AutoPay discount concern. Please know that my team is here to help. I can confirm that the ticket shows a callback was attempted, but no one answered. We do apologize for any inconvenience or frustration this has caused you. Also, our $10 AutoPay and Paperless billing discount states, "Xfinity Communities (bulk) customers are eligible if they are billed for Xfinity Internet outside their bulk contract. I went ahead and sent the Automatic payments and paperless billing discount policy to your email on file that details this information.

Are you paying for Internet service outside of your Bulk agreement?

Thank you for responding. I reviewed the Automatic Payments and Paperless Billing Discount policy you emailed to me. The policy you sent does not state what you have stated in your response.

The policy states that to receive the $10 discount, a customer must:

• Have Xfinity Internet; and
• Sign up for automatic payments and paperless billing with a stored bank account.

It does not state that an Xfinity Communities/bulk customer must be “billed for Xfinity Internet outside their bulk contract” to qualify. In fact, the only specific service exclusion shown under “Who qualifies for APPD?” is Comcast Business.

I have Xfinity Internet. My Internet was not cancelled or changed. I remain enrolled in automatic payments and paperless billing with a stored bank account. I was also receiving this $10 discount with this exact same bulk Internet arrangement before I cancelled Voice.

Therefore, please provide the actual written Xfinity policy or eligibility provision that states: “Xfinity Communities (bulk) customers are eligible if they are billed for Xfinity Internet outside their bulk contract.” The policy you emailed me does not say that.

I would also like my original question addressed: Why did cancelling Voice cause Xfinity to remove an existing $10 discount when my Internet service, bulk agreement, autopay, paperless billing and payment method did not change?

If Xfinity's position is that I was never eligible for the discount because of my bulk Internet arrangement, then please explain why Xfinity had been applying the discount to my account before I cancelled Voice — and why I was not advised when I cancelled Voice that the $10 monthly discount would be removed.

Finally, regarding the statement that a callback was attempted: I have checked my phone and I do NOT have a missed call from Xfinity, nor did I receive a voicemail. I was specifically told I would receive a supervisor callback within 24 hours. Instead, the escalation ticket was marked “completed successfully” approximately three hours after it was opened without any contact with me.

Please have this matter reviewed and address these specific points rather than simply repeating that my account is not eligible.

user_JEM, I copied the details below directly from the document I emailed to you. Are you not seeing the details below provided on your end;

Discount eligibility

The APPD is only available for customers who:

  • Enroll with a stored bank account.
  • Enroll in paperless billing, and
  • Subscribe to Xfinity Internet.

Customers who subscribe to these packages or tiers of service are not eligible:

  • Xfinity TV, Voice, and/or Home services without Xfinity Internet.
  • Internet Essentials.
  • Internet Essentials Plus.
  • Xfinity Mobile without Xfinity Internet.
  • Seasonal Convenience Plan.
  • NOW TV, NOW Mobile, or NOW Internet.

Xfinity Communities (bulk) customers

Xfinity Communities (bulk) customers are eligible if they are billed for Xfinity Internet outside of their bulk contract.

Comcast Business services are not eligible.

You may have been receiving the discount by mistake (system error), which is why, when you removed the Voice service, it flagged the account, as you were not supposed to be receiving it. I can submit a ticket to see if this was the case, but I can confirm that, based on our policy, you're not eligible for the discount if you're not being billed for Xfinity Internet service outside of your Bulk Agreement.

The supervisor callback ticket only states that a callback was attempted; unfortunately, there were no further details provided.

I would like to submit an Escalations ticket to further investigate why you were receiving the discount when you had Voice service. Would it be okay to proceed with submitting a ticket to have this further researched?

Thank you for providing the specific eligibility language. I understand Xfinity's position and do not want another ticket opened or any further investigation into my prior discount.

I remain dissatisfied that I was quoted a new monthly amount when I cancelled Voice without being told that my existing $10 autopay discount would also be removed.

I am also dissatisfied with how my escalation was handled. I was promised a supervisor callback, the ticket was then closed without my speaking to anyone, and the ticket was documented as though a callback had been attempted. I have no missed call from Xfinity and received no voicemail. That documentation does not accurately reflect what occurred.

At this point, I consider the matter closed and do not wish to pursue it further.
