Unexpected $10.01 charge after porting out of xfinity mobile-request for billing clarification
I successfully ported my phone number out of Xfinity Mobile in early August 2026, which should have automatically canceled my mobile service.
I was using a free promotional mobile line with my own device (BYOD), so I had no device installment payments or regular monthly service charges.
I wasn't charged anything in late August, but I recently noticed an unexpected $10.01 charge on my credit card dated September 27, 2026, almost two months after I ported out.
I'm wondering whether this charge is related to a few extra days of service before my number was transferred or if it was billed incorrectly.
Could someone from Xfinity please help me:
- Explain what the $10.01 charge was for.
- Provide an itemized final bill showing the billing period, service charges, taxes, and promotional discounts.
- Confirm that my mobile account has been fully closed and that no further charges will occur.
- Issue a refund if the charge was made in error.
I'd appreciate your assistance in resolving this. Thank you!

Hello, @user_1ixuvz! Thank you for reaching out to the Xfinity Community Forum. We understand your concern regarding the unexpected $10.01 charge following your service transfer, and we'd be happy to point you toward the right self-service resources to resolve this quickly. When a phone number is ported out, final charges can sometimes include prorated service days leading up to the transfer, remaining taxes, or fees that fall outside promotional discounts. Here are some ways to identify the cause:
View Your Itemized Final Bill:
Log in to your account to View and Pay Bill to check your PDF billing statements. Your final mobile bill will outline the specific billing period, any applicable taxes, and the breakdown of the $10.01 charge.
Confirm Account Closure & Status:
Porting out a number typically cancels active mobile lines, but verifying via the Xfinity Assistant can provide instant confirmation on whether your mobile account is fully closed and ensure no recurring automatic payments remain linked.
Billing Support & Disputes:
If your review of the final statement indicates the charge was applied in error after full cancellation, you can connect directly with an Xfinity Mobile specialist through Customer Service or by chatting with an agent via the Xfinity app to request a review and potential refund.
Please let us know if you need any additional assistance navigating your account details!
