Upgrade to 2gb Internet to fix cable box issue?

In order to fix an XRE-00250 issue with my main DVR box, the chat agent told me I needed to upgrade from 1gb Internet service to 2gb service. Is this correct?

I have been having issues with all 4 TV boxes in quick succession this week, including a technician visit and am at the point where I want to cancel cable and I ternet.
