Why Am I Not Being Refunded on an Unused Refund Card?

I don't use debit cards very often, and thought it was a pretty weird way to offer a refund. I misplaced a card that expired in 6 months. I researched how to resolve it and spent 2 hours on a virtual chat (!) to open a ticket to get my $150 refunded.

Today I was notified that my expired card could not be refunded with no reason why.

This is a terrible way to offer refunds... and seems designed to steal people's money.

If this is not resolved, I will let all my friends and family know to choose the other service available and why.

Hello @lorqnichols! Thank you for reaching out and bringing this to our attention. Please accept my sincere apology for the frustrating experience you've had with our refund process, especially after spending two hours on a virtual chat. I want to assure you that we do not want to hold on to your money. Our refund process is designed with security in mind, and while that's the reason we attempt to refund the original payment method, I can see how it led to a very poor experience for you.

To confirm, did you receive a prepaid gift card that was lost or was the refund issued to your actual debit card that was soon to expire?

It was a prepaid gift card. If it was a debit card about to expire, the money would still be in my bank account and I wouldn't complain.
