Acorn TV Discontinued

Without any prior notice, Xfinity has discontinued my subscription to Acorn TV.  They say that the programs previously available on Acorn are now available through AMC+.  That's a bald-faced LIE.  A few of the Acorn programs might be in the AMC+ app (which is about 25% more expensive than the Acorn subscription) - but most of them are not.  And all this was done at the same time that the cost of my overall TV subscription went up.  Is it any wonder that the only people who still use Xfinity TV are those of us who have no other option?  Believe me, if there WERE such an option, I'd take it in a heartbeat and say goodbye to Xfinity forever.

mrjod711 Hello, has anyone reached out to you regarding your Acorn concern?

Of course not.  And even if they did, they can't do anything to fix the problem - which is that Xfinity has dropped a streaming app (AcornTV) on the grounds that Acorn's programs and series are now available through AMC+ (which, BTW, is more expensive than Acorn).  But that assertion is a complete LIE - AMC+ does not offer ANY of the programs or series that were previously available on Acorn.

Fortunately, I have discovered that, with the use of a certain streaming box, I will be able to get (at a tiny fraction of the cost of Xfinity TV) all the AcornTV and other programs that I watch.  And that will allow me to discontinue my Xfinity TV subscription altogether.

I can hardly wait to say goodbye and good riddance to Xfinity TV.

I don't see how you'll be able to do that.  The programs I want are on Acorn TV and they have NOT been picked up by AMC+.  Therefore, they are not available through Xfinity - unless Xfinity decides to restore the Acorn TV app as it was previously.  Since it's highly doubtful that AMC+ will allow Xfinity to do so, there really isn't anything any Xfinity technician(s) is/are going to be able to do about it.  I'll continue working on a streaming box that will provide what I need.  Then adios, Xfinity.

We would certainly hate to see you leave the Xfinity Family, and we do understand wanting to have the shows available as you once previous had @mrjod711! At this time, it would be up to AMC+ and what would be available in their platform from Acorn TV. We are always looking for ways to improve our customers experiences with us, and will document the want to bring back Acorn TV. Please let us know if you have any other questions/concerns, we are happy to help.
