American Idol time slot in WA state?

American Idol shows on guide and therefore DVR records that show at 8pm-Pacific Time here in Washington state where I am.  However, the Actual Air time is 5pm Pacific Time.  Why the 3 hour delay?

It looks like it was a special 3 hour episode on Monday and the guide may not have been updated. I definitely understand how frustrating this would be to not have the full recording. You also have the option to manually adjust the length of the recording with these two options:

Setting a Manual Channel Recording (Time & Date)
  • Press Guide and navigate to the channel.
  • Press the Left arrow to highlight the channel name/logo.
  • Press the Record (red dot) button.
  • In the options, select Start to set the hour/minute/AM-PM.
  • Select Duration to set how long it records (up to 7 hours).
  • Set the Date and confirm.

Modify an Existing Scheduled Recording

  • Press the xfinity button on your remote.
  • Highlight Saved and press OK.
  • Select Scheduled and find the program.
  • Select Record Options -> Modify -> Just this episode.
  • Adjust Start time (early) or Stop time (late) using arrow buttons.
  • Select Confirm.

@XfinityBillie​ Actually Billie, the 3-hour showing delay here on the West Coast has nothing to do with Xfinity or the DVR recording procedure... I found out that the only Actual Live broadcast/showing of American Idol is/was on the East Coast, Eastern-Time-Zone.  It was ABC who decided to broadcast the show at different times on the other time Zones
