Audio and video not in sync viewing recorded programs on local NBC station

All recordings that we make from our local NBC station (WESH), Orlando,Fl, are basically not viewable because the audio out of sync by approximately 30 seconds.  I have tried various devices to view the recordings and they all show the same problem.  Live viewing has no problems.

No other recordings that we make on other channels have this problem.

This has been occurring for approximately the last 2 weeks.

I have tried all of the restart, refresh, sync options that are available.

I have also tried recording from a different HD channel for the station with the results.

Looking for any suggestions.

Mike7534, Hi there! Thanks for reaching out. Totally get how frustrating that is, especially when it’s only happening on one specific channel, and you’ve already tried all the right steps. Based on what you’re describing (audio out of sync on recordings only, across multiple devices, and limited to one station), this points less to your equipment and more to a feed/recording issue with that specific channel (WESH). A couple quick things you can try just to rule everything out:
  • Try recording the SD version of the channel (if available) to see if it behaves differently
  • Delete one affected recording and re-record the same program to confirm it’s consistent
  • Check if the issue happens on both playback options (cloud DVR vs. any local playback if applicable)

Please let us know if this helps.  You shouldn’t have to deal with 30-second delays. That’s definitely not expected.

I have the news recording daily as well as nightly programs.  All act the same when viewing.  I do not have a local recording everything is in the cloud.

I have tried recording on channel 11 which I think is the SD channel and the audio is in sync with the video.

Hopefully Xfinity can figure out the issue with HD recording and playback.

I think they may be going backwards in solving the problem, I have tried more recordings on the SD channel and now it also has the audio/video sync problem.

Thanks for testing all of that. I really appreciate you going the extra mile to try both HD and SD recordings. I completely understand how frustrating this is, especially since it’s now affecting all recordings on that channel. Given that it’s consistent across multiple programs, devices, and even the SD version, this points to a larger issue with the channel feed or how recordings are being processed on the backend. Not anything on your end. You’re absolutely right. We should be moving toward a resolution, not backward. Our team that supports these recording and playback issues will need to take a closer look at your account and the affected recordings.

Spoke to a tech at Xfinity today 6-2-26

and he said it’s an NBC program problem

and not Xfinity. They are working to correct it.

Xfinity owns NBC, so the problem is with NBC, not its owner Xfinity?  Why did Xfinity have children then?
