Catchy Comedy

What happened to FREE channel 238 Catchy Comedy?  I pay $245 per month to Xfinity for basic cable TV and internet.  This is outrageous that you remove a FREE channel, one of very few that I watch.

H&I is gone too. What's next? METV and Movies!? They're owned by the same company as H&I and Catchy. How many more channels are we going to lose as the prices just go up up up?

Ok, sounds like time to cut the cable, and get what I want from the internet!

It is almost like Xfinity WANTS us to dump them. They keep cutting the channels I like the most and increasing fees. And sending me emails with useless info, not the info I really need.

I encourage everyone to contact the FCC about Xfinity's monopoly and price gouging.    They try to help mediate a solution but we need more complaints.  You can do it online.

This is ridculous.  We watch Catchy more than just about any other channel. For what we pay each month, Xfinity needs to do much better. And I agree that the government should get involved with them for having a monopoly and their price gauging.

Hi @user_gbqhlx, I understand that losing the convenient access to one of your favorite channels is very frustrating. I must say that we do live in a great age of technology, and most of the shows you desire are on free streaming platforms. I urge you to try to take advantage of your Xfinity voice remote, and speak into it shows that you enjoy most. You would be surprised just how many services you have access to within the X1 box.

There are many factors at play here, but you can always share your desire for a channel by sharing your feedback on our Xfinity Feedback Form.

I spent two hours in an Xfinity chat today trying to find out what happened to Catchy channel. They did all sorts of things with no resolution. At first the screen showed “Fox Weather has moved to channel 1108”. I’m like, this channel has never been Fox Weather. Now it says “This channel is no longer available”. That switched during one of the reboots while I was in the chat. About an hour later I got a text telling me my issue should be resolved. When I responded N for no I got a phone call. I didn’t bother answering. Obviously it’s another channel we are losing because it’s an over the air channel. We can get it on free apps or with an antenna. I lost the Court TV channel a few weeks ago. It’s a pain to switch inputs all the time. Plus I can’t record the live coverage from Court TV in as app.

I have the same issue with Catchy TV. It says “This channel is no longer available”. I still get H&I and Court TV.

I Agree.....I am so aggravated!  It is one of my favorite channels that I watch all the time. SO do we get a discount for taking away this channel that we all pay for ?

If they have taken something OUT of the package that we pay for I WANT a discount xfinity !

The exact same thing happened to me.  I hope they at least gave you the $25 credit that I received.

user_n2onw1 Thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately, some areas have been impacted by a FOX Multicast Channel Lineup change. The channels Antenna TV, Heros & Icons, KBS, and Catchy Comedy will no longer be available.

Apparently they've dumped these channels, despite charging us about $25 in local broadcast fees. What are we paying this fee for if FREE LOCAL channels aren't even guaranteed anymore? I went back and looked and there's a tiny notice about it on the bottom of May's bill statement PDF. Wow, thanks for making the announcement so prominent.

I guess I'm off to buy my elderly mother an antenna and let her know that good old rabbit ears are the new future.

@1225   You are lucky you could view your statement. I have tried over and over and I get the same error message
Their website is so junky.

It took like 10 minutes for my statement to load so their site is pretty bad for everyone.

@1225  Amen to that! Mine wouldn't load at all. They won't send you a paper bill but make their online bill inaccessible. Guess the FTC needs to know this.
Their whole website is garbage. If they can't make a workable website how can they provide cable, internet and cell service???

Bring catchy comedy back and please train your customer service people on the reality of the situation so they don’t waste their time or Mind fixing something that apparently y’all don’t plan to fix

@user_pc13d4  The poor customer service folks are across the ocean and I can't even understand them. It's pointless to call. And they have not been trained in the changes that are made locally at all.

And when I call about service outage they claim I'm the only one and an area 5 miles wide is out as well. They do not know what is going on. But they want to sell you something.

I'm with you, I turned it on last night only to see "this channel is no longer available."  NOT happy at all. I'm paying close to THREE HUNDRED dollars a month for this [Edited: "Language"].

Hello @user_txovqh If you haven't tried it yet we do recommend trying to search I Love Lucy using your voice remote. There may be another channel in your lineup that airs their episodes or they could also be available for free through our OnDemand.

Yes, it's not fare that these over air channels are slowly disappearing. The Catchy channel especially, that's my go to channel when there is nothing else on that interest me. I cut my bill down from 314.00 to 230.00. I lost channels I didn't expect to lose simply because they were attached to something I cut.  I'll give a couple of more months if I lose more channels, I'll cut cable like my daughter wanted me to do.

What will you do? Streaming only?

It’s a bit inconvenient, and sometimes wonky, but you can watch most of the Catchy Comedy shows by saying the name of the show into your voice remote.  You can choose whatever season and episode you want to watch from various free streaming services like Pluto TV and Tubi.  The nice thing about Catchy is that they showed the episodes in chronological order and then started from the beginning when the last episode aired.  It’s a first world problem, but for the money we’re paying them, they should try to make their service more, not less, user friendly, especially for us seniors.

@user_4lp695 Thank you for letting me know this.  I will definitely give it a try.  Your right, I do like the way they show things in numerical order. Thanks again for your help.

I live in the Detroit metro area.  We can still get Catchy Comedy and H&I by switching TV input to antennna (using an indoor antenna purchased at Menards for $10.00).  A bit of an inconvenience but it is an easy fix.   Also called Xfinity and got $10.00 monthly credit taken off my bill.

@DPic1 can you tell me how you do that? I’ve never used an antenna before. I tried call Xfinity to complain about losing Catchy and could never get a live person

Multiple people have already made it clear that we want these channels back ASAP! It's a free local subchannel. How much could it possibly cost to keep it, especially given the insane amounts of money Comcast charges us every month? The local broadcast fee alone is $25 a month. Then, $12 per box despite the hardware being glitchy and outdated. The one thing that kept many people paying for Comcast was that you get everything, including locals, subchannels, and regional sports, in one place. Now that's gone. You kept our local sports away from us here in Detroit and several other cities for months last summer and only brought them back on a much more expensive tier and now you're taking away cheap local channels while raising prices by more than $15 a month every year.

@XfinityRaul  IT's clear that you eliminated the WJBK-TV one off channels, such as Cathy Comedy, H&I and Fox Weather. So knowing Xfinity too well, I assume that means that You didn't want to pay some cost of retaining them. In that case it won't matter if we all waste our time complaining because Xfinity doesn't care about anything but making more money and controlling all of the program providers.

I contacted the office of the Comcast/Xfinity CEO, and a representative said that they are in negotiations with the owner of the station that broadcasts Catchy Comedy and Heroes & Icons and “hope to reach a resolution that benefits our customers.”  I suggest that customers keep expressing how much they miss those channels and maybe they will return.  I don’t have the statistics, but I would guess that a good percentage of Xfinity customers are retired seniors like myself who still faithfully watch the old shows that we grew up with and don’t want to go through the hassle of trying to find them on streaming platforms.

I called Xfinity for an estimate when AT&T raised my cable monthly charge near $300.  Xfinity customer Rep brought my cost down to under $200 a month.  Assuming I would have most of the channels I had with AT&T I signed with Xfinity, that's when the misleading began.  Almost every channel I was interested in watching required a subscription, they nickel and dime you to death.  Yellowstone series, extra charge, baseball games, I have pay extra for Fanduel.  I don't know how they get away with such deception and unethical ways of doing business.
