Delay in TV Programs.

There is a 45 to 50 second delay viewing programs using my cable boxes. Instead of a program starting say at 8:00 PM, it starts at 8:00:50 PM. The delay also shows up using the auto resumed on recorded programs. This delay is not presenting when viewing programs using the Xfinity Stream app. I have restarted and refreshed my cable boxes, and the delay is still present. I understand why there might be a delay with live sports programs but not with the regular broadcasts.

I am pretty sure the delay has something to do with the buffering (that, among other things, lets you "rewind" the current channel up to an hour). There is nothing you can do about it; it is a problem we all have.

@user_nyocnh, thank you for your post on our forums! There are a lot of factors that contribute to broadcasting delays. One of them is a delay to catch profanity on live TV. Another factor is HD compression and decompression. All of these factors can cause delays on channels as well as differences between different regions and channels. There is no way to completely eliminate it. You can try doing a box refresh by saying "system refresh" into your voice remote. You can also press "A" and arrow to the right to find the system refresh option.

@XfinityTony I doubt if the delay is to catch profanity on live TV. That is typically only a five second delay and not 45-50 seconds. HD compression and decompression makes sense. I have noticed when there is live sporting event is being broadcast in 4K, the 4K broadcast is several seconds behind the HD broadcast.

Thank you, @user_nyocnh for your time and patience. I definitely understand your concerns regarding the delay, I know how frustrating it is. I'm very sorry this is an issue that we cannot troubleshoot or fix, I'm very sorry for the inconvenience.-Richard
