MLB extra innings local blackout?

Since Bally Sports is no longer available, I was thinking of getting the Extra Innings package with the hope of being able watch Detroit Tigers games. Are local games blacked out?

Yes they are blacked out. I hope these will be opened up for victims of Bally Sports vs Comcast

user_7iqrp5  Unfortunately, our programming agreement with DSG has expired. We have made a number of reasonable offers that DSG hasn't accepted. This means we no longer have the rights to carry their channels, including your local Bally Sports network. The loss of this channel will result in savings that we’ll pass along to you, and you’ll see an automatic credit in your bill in the coming weeks.

I don't care about the savings, I just want to see Detroit games.

Hello user_saopy1

Unfortunately, MLB EXTRA INNINGS is not a replacement to view in-market games. Nationally televised games will continue to be carried by TBS, FOX, CBS, FS1, MAX, ESPN and Apple TV. Check your local listings for upcoming games or contests. The loss of this channel will result in savings that we’ll pass along to you, and you’ll see an automatic credit in your bill in the coming weeks.

Same in Grand Rapids. No Detroit teams are accessible.  I tried MLB extra innings and still no Tigers. I'd like to change my TV provider.

Hey there, user_txzq23, we definitely do not want to lose you as a customer, and we appreciate your feedback! I know how important it is to have access to your team's games!

We have made a number of reasonable offers that DSG hasn't accepted. We definitely apologize for this inconvenience and the loss of this channel will result in savings that we’ll pass along to you, and you’ll see an automatic credit in your bill in the coming weeks.

Yes, assuming you live in Detroit's "blackout zone." The fact that you have a cable service that doesn't carry Bally Sports doesn't matter - since there are other ways you can get the channel, they assume that you can switch to one of them. There is nothing Xfinity can do about this (well, other than cave in to whatever Bally Sports is demanding that Xfinity pay for the channel, but ask any Denver Nuggets or Colorado Avalanche fan what happened when the Altitude Sports channel did the same thing, or any New York Knicks or New York Rangers fan about MSG Network).

I have  MLB Extra Innings and want to watch tonight’s Tiger game against the Orioles.  Since we’re located in Vero Beach Florida there can’t be a local blackout here to see this out of town game.  I paid for MLB extra innings to see all games.  I don’t want Apple TV, or Peacock, or You Tube.

@user_85vhez - gee, you don't think the reason Apple, YouTube, and Comcast (owners of Peacock) each paid God's own amount of money for exclusive rights to certain games was to get you to pay for their streaming services in order to be able to watch them, do you? The same with Amazon Prime and the NFL. It's not exactly a smart business move to pay for exclusive rights to a baseball game, only to discover that it's also available on another service that a considerable number of people have.

Besides, it's not as if MLB Extra Innings is an Xfinity exclusive. Everybody else that has it has this same problem.

I don't "want" to pay for all Hulu, Max, Netflix, and Paramount+, but if I want to watch, say, The Bear, Hacks, Wednesday, and any of the new Star Trek series, then I'm stuck, aren't I? There's nothing remotely new about trying to gain competitive advantages in getting people to watch your channel; even before cable TV was a thing, there was "counterprogramming," where networks would move shows to the same times as other networks' popular shows, in an attempt to drive down the other network's ratings.

Thank you for reaching out on our Community Forums, we appreciate your time and  understand where you are coming from @user_85vhez. We appreciate you being a MLB Extra Innings subscriber and are sorry to hear that you were unable to watch the Tiger game against the Orioles due to black out restrictions. We apologize for the inconvenience. While MLB Extra Innings does include most of the televised games from other markets, there are still some that will be blacked out, unfortunately. Most games in the package that are subject to blackout are those also carried by your local station/regional cable network so you may just need to change the channel to find the game you're looking for.
