Hello user_gz9wz8, to see what specifically is included in your lineup, I'd have to review your account. Have you lost access to those channels or receiving an error message when you try to view them?

User_ee937a explained it perfectly, we got that message, and it is not clear what we will have on the effective date.

user_gz9wz8, I Got it; thank you all for the confirmation. We recently announced that NBC Sports Boston and New England Sports Network for our North Division customers will move from the Popular TV, Extra, Sports & News genre pack, and Starter Latino TV to the Ultimate TV package. This means customers who don’t subscribe to the Ultimate TV package will not be able to view this programming officially as of January 14, 2025. Impacted customers will receive a one-time RSN credit, and moving forward, the RSN fee on their monthly bill will be reduced. If you are interested in the Ultimate TV plan, we can also help review any current promotions.

@XfinityVianney okay, but why should we be forced to go to the ultimate TV package when we could just use the NESN 360 app?

More importantly, why is it that I have to sign in to my Xfinity account on NESN 360 only for your services to block me from accessing NESN 360 on most of my devices just because it's not in my plan, even though I'm directly paying NESN to have that service with them and not comcast? Most of the representatives I spoke with online are clueless and the representative just pushed for a sale on ultimate tv and said they couldn't help.

I am not that user but I assume he/she received the same message I did. Those of us who are on the "Popular Plan" received this message:

"As part of our new programming agreements with NBC Sports Boston and New England Sports Network (NESN), both networks will move to our Ultimate TV and Digital Preferred packages on Tuesday, January 14. As a result effective January 14, you'll no longer have access to NBC Sports Boston and NESN as part of your current TV package."

This change in service was also reported in Boston media.

Nobody who I contact at Xfinity seems to know about this change.  What I and the original poster want to know are our options to retain these channels and what is the cost of these options. When I went on line it told me I would have to pay an additional $70/month which if true would send me to YouTube Tv.

@user_ee937a How did you get that message? Did Xfinity E-Mail you because I cannot find any indication that Xfinity has sent out an official notice.

Tek Yes, for our grandfathered channel lineups, NESN will be available in the Digital Preferred channel lineup. It will not be available to Digital Starter or Extra customers. They will need to upgrade to Digital Preferred to continue to receive the channel.

Add me to the list of customers who just called the 800 line and got a rep that knew nothing about this situation. I presently have the popular plan and the regional sports page. I went to Xfinity.com/upgradeTV and walked through the upgrade path and it was like $70 more - not $20. Are there any other options - (other than going to Verizon)?

@XfinityJeniece thank you for clarifying this. Much appreciated and happy they are leaving it in the top tier legacy plans.

This change is absolutely stupid. I pay for the extra sports package, and NESn is being taken away. Why would this be changed? Why would the local sports be taken away from the local area?

@user_bladebearr because comcast wants more money, after just increasing their fees a month ago.  Time to get a HD  antenna to stop paying for bad service and products. IMHO

@fedup978 An HD antenna is no help with NBC Sports Boston, is it?

@fedup978 a lot of this has to do with NESN and NBC Sports. They are the greedy parties causing this. The price of cable programming is dictated largely by the channels and not by Xfinity.

We have the popular plan that included NESN.  Now they want an ADDITIONAL $80+ a month.

what is the Digital Plan?

And we cannot verify that the Ultra Plan includes NESN.

we have received no notice in the change of plans and we've been "talking to live rep" named MOHD and he has no knowledge either.  He's spent the last hour troubleshooting our line.
not a good thing if even the employees don't know- AND my plan still shows NESN is on the Popular Plan.

not good Xfinity.   Wasting your clients and your employees time!

@cmlapine97 true, but NESN is not. Also, they are operated separate from the cable operations.

If you still have the channels today then you are not impacted by the package changes.

But it would not open- it said we had to upgrade our subscription.

the "live chat" MOHD ended up telling us that NESN was under maintenance tonight.

It was not under maintenance. I watched it. You need to switch to Ultimate TV to get it now if you don't already have that package or a Digital Preferred Legacy Package.

NO ONE EVER CONTACTED ME ABOUT DROPPING NESN AND BOSTON SPORTS. I ALSO HAD MOHMD HELPING ME FOR 2 HOURS.EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH XFINITY. TIME TO MOVE ON.

2 Messages

They sent out an email last Friday which was extremely short notice. But they also seem not to have informed their tech support/customer service. Until it happened they kept telling me there were no channel line-up changes coming.

Yes this whole situation is terrible. They’ve just taken away my 2 most important channels without even a reduction in their price. It’s left me sitting here all day trying to figure out how to cancel them and move onto something else. The cost now without our local sports channels is just a total rip off. Who’d ever think they’d pull this?

Thank you for reaching out to us @user_h4r0o3! Xfinity pays networks, local TV station owners, and others for the ability to deliver their programming to customers. The fees vary based on factors such as the type of content (like Regional sports networks), the popularity of the network, and the demand for its content, among others.

Xfinity regularly review this programming and sometimes makes changes to ensure customers receive a wide variety of content at the best value. As a result, channels, including Regional sports networks, may periodically be added, removed or moved to different packages.

The portion of the regional sports network fee on the bill for those networks will be automatically removed going forward for the channel lineups that no longer have access to the stations. There will also be a one-time regional sports network credit automatically applied to accounts that were impacted by these changes.

We’d regret seeing you go and would love the opportunity to look at our available options. Could you please send our team a direct message with your full name and full address? To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:

@user_rmr4gk if you lost it the only way to get it back is to move to the Ultimate TV Package. There is a promo to upgrade.

If that is considered a promo rate it is ridiculous. An additional 70.40/month to get the one channel I want and a bunch others I don't want. It appears it is Xfinity's (Comcast's) way of exiting the cable business.
