Billing problems

I ordered and modem off eBay to upgrade mine and it seems to me that the person that sold me the item didn't pay off the modem now I'm stuck with a modem I paid for online. I paid for this item not knowing that it wasn't paid off after the seller said it was paid off. How can I fix this problem.. if I can't fix it how can I get this stuff off my bill..?

Hey there, @user_aqubnh. Xfinity/Comcast does not resell any equipment with our brand on it. If you purchased an Xfinity branded modem from a seller on a 3rd party platform such as eBay or Craigslist, you will need to file a claim with that platform as the seller sold you equipment they are not authorized to sell. Any Xfinity rental device that is connected to our system will automatically apply a monthly charge to use our modem.

If you wanted to purchase your own modem to avoid the monthly rental fee, you would need to utilize our modem lookup tool and purchase one of the 3rd party modems listed from any authorized retailer. Be sure you log in with your Xfinity ID and password as that tool will then provide you options that support your current speed tier as well as options for other speed tiers.

Please also note that sending unsolicited direct messages to myself or any other user is a direct violation of our forum guidelines. You must first create a Public post requesting assistance, and once a Comcast verified employee responds and asks for a direct message to be sent, you can then proceed with doing so.
