Comcast technician & 3rd-party electronics

Can someone clarify comcast policy for my future reference? If I schedule a technician visit, what types of third-party electronics do comcast technicians provide assistance for?

user_a514fg Hello, and thank you for reaching out via our Xfinity Community Forums. That is a great question, and I want to make sure you have a clear understanding for future reference. Our Comcast technicians are highly trained and experts in troubleshooting and resolving issues with your Comcast equipment and services.

This includes:
  • Your Comcast modem/gateway
  • Your Comcast cable boxes
  • Your Comcast remotes
  • The wiring and connections directly related to your Comcast services
  • And overall signal and service related issues.

Essentially, they are specialists in ensuring your Comcast services are running smoothly.

Unfortunately, our technicians are not trained or authorized to troubleshoot or provide assistance with third-party electronics.

This includes things like:

  • Third-party routers or modems (unless they are Comcast approved)
  • Smart TVs or streaming devices (unless the issue is directly related to our signal)
  • Gaming consoles
  • Home theater systems
  • Computers or other personal devices

The reason for this is that those devices have their own unique operating systems and complexities that are outside of the scope of our technician's training and expertise. We want to ensure that if they work on something, that they are able to fix the issue, and that is why they are experts in our own equipment.

If you're experiencing issues with a third-party device, we recommend contacting the manufacturer or a qualified electronics technician for assistance. I hope this clarifies our policy for you. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions.
