Do I need an install or tech for my Internet cord

Hi,

I just moved into an apartment that used to have AT&T as its Internet provider. I didn't know they would have different wall ports to connect the Internet cord Xfinity sent me.

Do I need a tech to come out to get a coax port installed or is it something can buy and input into the AT&T outlet that was installed in the wall.

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

Hey @Username13619 , Thank you for visiting our official Xfinity Forums Community support page. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience regarding the connection. I would be more than happy to offer my assistance looking into this further for you. Do you happen to have a coax outlet in the home even in different rooms? Has there ever been Xfinity service at your home?

Hi @XfinityJanelle ,

I looked around the house and was unable to to find a coax outlet. I've attached what I had found around the house. The original tenants had AT&T so I am

assuming they never had Xfinity.

@Username13619, thanks for the image. Unless there is perhaps a media closet somewhere else in the home where coaxial cable exists that the modem can connect to in order to provide whole home internet, you would need a tech installation. This is assuming there is a place that we can externally run a cable line. If you want to see about getting someone out, we can help! Please send a direct message to us by clicking the chat icon in the upper right corner of the page, click on the pen and paper icon, then enter “Xfinity Support” in the “To” section. Please include your full name and complete street address.

It sounds like you are in an apartment building / multiple dwelling. You may need to discuss this with the building owner / property management to obtain their permission. This is assuming that Comcast service is even available there.
