Fiber/Coax service instead of WiFi Gateway

I am looking into setting up internet service at an apartment I am moving to next month, but the only available service appears to be the WiFi Gateways. I remember seeing coax cables running from the walls in the unit I looked at, so I am unsure why I am unable to specifically request fiber internet service.

I would much rather prefer to be connected to the fiber network. How can I get this set up?

@user_76laeh Hi there, and welcome! Are you currently on the Xfinity website looking to set up your service for your new home? When you type in your address, do you receive a notification about the Wi-Fi Ready Location? In a WiFi-Ready unit you can locate the pre-installed gateway, usually housed in a media panel, closet, or near a coaxial outlet. Or are you receiving a notification about the available equipment at the location?

Yes, looking to set up service for new apartment on the Xfinity website. I see no notifications regarding "WiFi Ready."

All the service options just mention WiFi / WiFi Gateway, and do not mention fiber optic (or fiber/coax hybrid). It's a multi-unit building, so I am assuming there is a media panel somewhere in the building because I saw coax cables running in the units I viewed (possibly coax wall jacks too, but not certain).

I would prefer to have a wired (coax / fiber) connection, but when trying to select a service on the Xfinity website, all the options seem to imply it'll be a wireless gateway and not a cable hookup.

Certainly and I do want to clarify that the Xfinity WiFi Gateway acts as both a modem to receive internet signal and a router. You can connect both Wi-Fi and through a wired connection (like the coax connection) So, when you see the wireless gateway on the page it doesn't mean it is WiFi only. You will have the option for both WiFi and Ethernet.

Please let me know if you need any additional assistance placing your order or checking the location for serviceability before placing your order.
