Horrible customer service! Employee who provided the wrong information, wasted 2 1/2 hours of my time, and Xfinity won't stand behind it

I called Xfinity to check on available promotions and discounts. I was informed by "Conan" of Xfinity that there was a senior discount, which started at a minimum of 10% reduction in pricing. I questioned Conan about this, and he assured me this was available for anyone 65 years old and older, and that I needed to go to an Xfinity store with a valid identification to prove my age and the Xfinity store employee would then add the discount to our services. I went to the store, waited, and spoke to an employee who said they never heard of a senior discount and there was nothing they could do. This was after I spent over two hours on the phone, driving to the store, and waiting. The information provided to me came directly from an Xfinity employee -- "Conan" -- which i questioned multiple times before I invested my time going to the store. The store employees and manager could have cared less --- "please step aside so we can help someone else"!! I called Xfinity back on the same # as I spoke with Conan, but got another person.  Essentially the same treatment --- "sorry, I've never heard of a senior discount --- nothing I can do."  I explained what happened and asked to speak with the customer retention group (we've been Xfinity customers over 25 years). Again --- "Lorenzo" explained there was no senior discount and that the rate we had was the best rate available so there was nothing he could do. This was after an Xfinity employee caused me to spend over 2 1/2 hours following THEIR directions.  AWFUL! Hard to believe a company wouldn't stand behind what their employee communicated and committed to! Worst customer service I've seen in a long time.

user_be183f Thanks for reaching out! I'm sorry to hear about your experience. In some of our markets, Xfinity cooperates with franchise agreements to honor discounts for qualifying senior citizens, disabled customers, or economically disadvantaged households. These discounts are decided at a town or city level at the time of a license negotiation and renewal. Not all areas have this, and do have some requirements that must be met. The local store you visited would have known if these discounts are available in your area. I do apologize for any miscommunication you received over the phone.
