How to add MAC address X8B gateway?

Hi - my HP printer will not connect to my new XB8 gateway - the printer suggests adding the printer's MAC address under the gateway's MAC Filtering. How to I do this? I'm not finding anything related to MAC filtering when logged into the gateway nor on the app.

Hi there @user_dguom6, I hope you're having a great weekend. Sorry to hear you are having trouble connecting your printer.

Make sure your printer uses a specific Wi-Fi channel to connect. I have a camera that will only connect to 2.4, so I split my networks, my devices can easily find my network.

You check out your Xfinity app in your advanced settings, there is an option to split your Wi-Fi network.

 

Typically, to enable MAC address you can follow these steps: Choose Firewall > Advanced Settings > MAC Filtering, then check the Enable box to enable MAC Address Filtering for this device

 

Add device

You can add a device to MAC Filtering?
  1. Go to your gateway settings.
  2. Enter the Modem Access Code found on the side of your gateway.
  3. Select Home Network > Mac Filtering.
  4. From the MAC Filtering Type dropdown, select Enabled.
  5. In Mac Filter Entry, either: Select your devices' MAC addresses. ...
  6. Select Add.
  7. Select Save.

Hi - I tried the split network and that didn't work for the printer to connect.

The other instructions do not make any sense. I've added a screenshot of what I see when I log in as admin to the gateway.

Selecting Firewall does not provide an option for advance settings...

The add device - well I did not see anyplace to add the Modem Access Code - after assuming Got to your gateway settings means logging into the gateway as admin (maybe I'm in the wrong place? Also there isn't an open to open Home Network then MAC filtering.

@user_dguom6 The exact location of the MAC filtering settings varies by gateway model, but it's usually found under sections like "Wireless/Connection," "Security," or "Advanced Settings".

FWIW. "MAC" stands for Media Access Control.
