myrouter.io vs 10.0.0.1 for XB8 modem

looks like the cert on the modem is hard coded for myrouter.io. As a result, I get hundreds of error windows on my windows PC in the morning because the cert isn't trusted, and something on windows is trying to access 10.0.0.1. When I go to 10.0.0.1 in my browser, I get the untrusted cert warning. I'm seen others here with the same issue. Even though the cert is valid for 6 more months (2-27-2027), because is locked to myrouter.io, the cert is not trusted.

I called Xfinity support and they said the XB8 isn't being updated anymore, so they are sending a newer XB10.

Because Xfinity support people don't like to post solutions here (for some unknown reason), the solution seems to be to get a newer modem. Well see if this actually resolves the issue as they are shipping it to me.

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

I got a replacement modem. They told me they were sending an XB10 and there would be no shipping charge. They sent an XB8 and they charged me shipping. I called (again) and got them to remove the shipping charge, but they will not ship me an XB10 for free. Nearest Xfinity store is 40 minutes away.

How do I stop windows from producing hundred on dialogs saying myrouter.io is insecure?

Hi there, @user_l2c9a! Thanks for taking the time out of your day to reach out about the XB10. The modem is still new and has limited eligibility. Our warehouse will only send that if your speed tier is eligible to have the device. You would need our FDX speeds to qualify for that. We are unable to set up a shipment for an XB10 if you do not qualify, the option is not present for us to choose from. The modem eligibility will continue to expand but I don't have any details on when that will be.

ok, so maybe someone needs to explain that to the support agents. She told me the XB8 isn't being updated anymore and I should have an XB10.

Any idea on how to resolve the myrouter.io error: This is what FireFox (and every other browser) reports:

https://10.0.0.1/

Unable to communicate securely with peer: requested domain name does not match the server’s certificate.

HTTP Strict Transport Security: false
HTTP Public Key Pinning: false

If this only happened when I access the URL directly, taht would be fine, but occasionally I get HUNDREDS of dialogs on Windows reporting this error.

I apologize that you were told that, @user_l2c9a. We always want you to get the correct information. All of our modems that we have in use continue to receive updates from us. I am on Chrome and checked the 10.0.0.1 website. It is coming up with no certificate errors and bringing me to the login page. When did you notice this problem first begin?

Have you cleared your cache and restated your device you are accessing that on? Sometimes certificate information will be cached.

yes, I cleared cache and restarted.

Here's an image of the hundreds of dialog. The odd looking border is because there are dozens of these alerts on top of each other.

This is the certificate:

I installed the cert. Now that I know it's from Xfinity, I felt a little (just a little) more confident.

You probably don't see the cert error because you likely created an exception (firefox terminology) for the error. There is no way any modern browser would accept that cert unless your DNS is resolving myrouter.io to 10.0.0.1

@XfinityRay I posted a reply, but there is a purple "Private" on the reply that I cannot figure out.
