new box without cable input

I clicked the links to get upgraded TV boxes. Neither one has an input for the cable.  Both my existing main box and the smaller box for the bedroom TV have cable inputs.  Xfinity Assistant couldn't help.

Thank you.

david.g1 Thanks for reaching out to us here for assistance with your box concern. To confirm, are you needing boxes with cable inputs or asking how to use our wireless TV boxes you just got?

Thank you for the quick reply.

At the very top of your website page, it said I could get upgraded boxes, so I clicked the link.  I was wondering why I was sent boxes without a cable hookup.

  1. Are you switching to Internet TV only?
  2. Is there a benefit to disconnecting the cable and using only Internet?
  3. On the other hand, is there a benefit to maintaining the cable hookup?

Thanks again.

Hi there, @david.g1 I understand how confusing it is to receive the boxes without a way to connect them to your TV. The new boxes you received are likely wireless cable boxes (such as Xfinity X1 Xi5/Xi6 or XiOne models). These newer, upgraded units are designed to connect to your TV via HDMI and receive the cable signal via your home Wi-Fi network, eliminating the need for a physical coaxial cable connection to the box.-Richard

Thank you.  Yes they are both Xi6.  One came with the HDMI input connection open and the other came with a plug blocking that opening.  None of the connections are coaxial.

Are telling me that there is no benefit for having the coax connection?

Thank you for your reply back. @david.g1 A wired X1 box is always going to give you a more robust connection. The wireless boxes work great you'll just want to make sure you have a strong enough wireless signal to operate it. So, both have their advantages. The advantage to the wireless box is you don't need an active cable outlet to set one up. Really the best answer is going to depend on your home and where you need the box set up. -Richard

Sorry to keep asking, but I did some research on the capabilities of the Xi6.  Some of Xfinity's pages say Xi6 does not have DVR capability and some page say it does! What is the accurate information?
