New cable box upgrade question

I received a notification while using my existing box that I needed to upgrade it. I followed the on screen prompts and was told a new box was on its way. The box arrived and it is the same box I already have. Actually it is older, because it is an older revision letter. Current box is xg2v2-s. New upgrade is xg2v2-p. What happened? Did they send the wrong box?

user_5df1df We may need to look at the account and shipping order to see what's going on. Our team can also help to create a shipment for the correct TV box as well. Please send our team a direct message with your full name and address.

To send a Direct Message:

Ensure you are logged in

  • Click the "Direct Messaging" icon or https://forums.xfinity.com/direct-messaging
  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  • The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there.
    • As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list.
    • An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line.
  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  • Press Enter to send it.

The -S box is probably a Samsung, the -P, Pace. See "Pace and Samsung XG2" on https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/x1-hub-vs-companion-box. The Pace box is slightly more capable.

Thanks for the insight. What makes the Pace box slightly better? No info on link provided other than there are Pace and Samsung versions.

I tried to find an official answer, but did not succeed. Here's an unofficial one: https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/x1/xg2v2s/62b3f4c826e4b32f2deb06e8?commentId=62b419f6c1d78836ea3d1f26

Looking around some more, support articles at https://www.google.com/search?q=app+Pace+Samsung+site%3Awww.xfinity.com%2Fsupport say there are a number of apps that are compatible with the XG2v2-P, but not with the XG2v2-S.

Ex: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/tv-movies-apps says "Samsung XG2v2s ... may not be supported".

Thanks so much for your assistance! I wonder why the still give out the Samsung box if they know it's incompatible. I was just given that box last year and the article you shared was from like 3 years ago. Thanks again.
