port forwarding

I setup a VM Minecraft Server on my NAS, it shows up in the connected device list when I use the web tool, however the web tool no longer lets you create a port forwarding rule, which I know I could setup custom rules before. When I try to use the Xfinity app, the device does not show in the list, the ip address is required to be reserved due to how the VM is setup. How do I fix this? Please restore the web tool ip forwarding section or add custom rule to the xfinity app.

The concern is not "Home Security Devices And Equipment" help related........... Topic moved here to the proper help section, and for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

Hello, @user_z4sblv thank you for reaching out over Xfinity Forums. I want to ensure you're able to get the port forwarding set up and working correctly. The Xfinity gateway can have port forwarding set up, make sure your advanced security is turned off. Here is a helpful document on setting up port forwarding: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/xfi-port-forwarding

If you have the most up-to-date version of the Xfinity App, the admin tool is disabled by default. Customers who wish to access advanced settings (e.g., WiFi name/password changes) via the admin tool can manually enable access through a new toggle in the WiFi Advanced settings of the app.

Edit: The Xfinity App version 5.62 is the latest version with the toggle for the admin tool.

Please let me know if this was helpful, or if you're still experiencing issues with the port forwarding.

Thanks for the links. I'd already turned the admin tool on, I tried turning advanced security off, but the web tool port forwarding section still says to use the App and my Minecraft Server still isn't showing up as an option in the App pull down list. Is there really no way to have a manual IP address rule?

I'm sorry to hear that the Minecraft Server still isn't showing up @user_z4sblv. Using the XFINITY app is the best way to have a manual address IP rule and unfortunately, that's not something we can set up on this platform. Have you tried restarting your modem? Are you using an XFINITY gateway or a third party modem?

I'm using the router/modem provided by Xfinity. I've tried restarting it. Based on my testing the virtual machines I'm setting up as servers aren't seen by the app, all my devices are showing up on the list, just not the virtual machines. My PC has no issue seeing the IP address of the virtual machines running on my server at all. Server is connected via LAN ethernet to the router via a switch and my main PC is on the wifi.

Thanks for that information and those details. I would be happy to take a look at your connection on our end. Can you please send us a Direct Message with your full name and your full address?

To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:

Click "Sign In" if necessary

Click the "Direct Messaging" icon or https://forums.xfinity.com/direct-messaging

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there

- As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list

- An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

Press Enter to send it.
