Porting landline number from other carrier to xfinity

I had to move my cable/phone to xfinity recently because of a move.

At the store before I moved, they said once I got the WiFi set up the landline would start working immediately with my same number, no set up required and no waiting. I found that not to be true but I chatted with xfinity and got the landline working, at first with a different number, but the person I chatted with said they would port the old number and it would take 24-48 hours. After 48 hours another person I chatted with said it could take up to 10 days but that I could check the status of the porting on the app. I have not been able to find where I can check the status on the app and I keep getting directed to an FAQ that says it takes one business day to port one landline number.

If the porting is in process I can accept that, but is there actually a way to check the progress or speed it along?

Thanks for posting on our community forums, user_233609. I can understand the confusion, especially since you’ve received different information about how long the number transfer should take and where you can check its progress. I’m sorry this hasn’t been as straightforward as you were originally led to expect. We’d be happy to take a closer look at the account and see what information is available regarding the status of your number transfer. That way, rather than giving you another general timeframe, we can first determine where things currently stand and whether any additional action is needed. Could you please send our team a Direct Message with your name and service address? Our team can take a further look at this issue.
