Previous Customer Question About Existing Coax Line
I wanted to use the existing coax line that is run to my room, but it's connected behind the restricted access panel and not the customer access panel. I was searching on what to do and the answers vary, with the main answers being that Xfinity will charge 100 dollars as a service fee and label it a custom cable if you ask for it to be removed from the restricted access, or to cut it from the box a few feet and terminate the cable and put an end cap on and feed it into the customer access panel. I had also read that you can ask for the line to be dropped/removed, but I don't know if the cable is technically removed from the premise.
Will Xfinity remove it from their restricted access panel 1 to be used for other things, or give permission for you to remove it? I was given an OTA and can't afford to buy new coax cable due to the cost of ground wire, lightning arrestor, ground straps, and bills. I had hoped that the cable would be in the customer access panel so it would be simple, but sadly only abandoned wasp nests were in there.
I was a customer for over a decade from my own account, parent, and grandparent, so any help would be greatly appreciated in what I can do to avoid having to pay a service fee given the cost.
Thank you,
Patrick L.

Thank you for reaching out. I understand there is an existing cable you wish to use, but you see that it's under a restricted-access panel. Without having a tech on site, it would be hard to determine the path of the line, whether it's our cable, or if it's connected to anything at the tap, given its location in that panel. If you don't have active service or plan to have service installed, we wouldn't have the option to have a tech reroute the line if you wished to have it moved.
