Provisioning Member Owned Router with Residential Fiber EPON Service

I’m looking to switch my Xfinity EPON fiber service over to the new member-owned router option so I can connect my UniFi Cloud Gateway Fiber directly to the ONU instead of using the Xfinity gateway in bridge mode.

I chatted with support earlier, but they told me I could just plug my router directly into the ONU and it should work. I tried that, but my router isn’t getting a WAN IP.

From what I’ve read here, it sounds like there’s some provisioning that needs to happen on Xfinity’s end first.

Can someone help me get that switched over?

Thanks!

user_2s79s6 Hi there.  Thank you so much for reaching out on our Xfinity Community Forum.  I'll be happy to assist.  Have you already removed the Xfinity Gateway from the account?

Hello!  It's still attached, in bridge mode.

user_2s79s6 I can help get the account set up to use your router with the ONU without using our gateway for you. I'll need account information in DM to locate and authenticate the account for the modification.

Can you send us a direct message with your full name, name of account holder (if different), and service address please?

To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:

Click "Sign In" if necessary

Click the "Direct Messaging" icon

Click the "Start new conversation" (pencil and paper) icon

In the "To:" line, type "Xfinity Support"

As you type, a drop-down list will appear. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list.

An "Xfinity Support" graphic will replace the "To:" line.

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window.

Press Enter to send it.

Not to hijack this message, but I’m also a new customer here with EPON and was give an XB7. My previous service was quicker because my modem had a 2.5g port where all of the usable ports on the XB7 are only 1GB. It seems like I’m losing out on about 200-250mb of bandwidth since the gateway is pulling close to 1200mb and I only get around 930mb.

Id like to have the MACSec from the ONU so I can just use my UniFi devices that have worked great for me. I am referencing https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/member-owned-router-fiber-internet

I didn’t seem to be able to send a direct message at least before posting here, so I’m not sure if that will enable me to do so.

Thanks in advance!
