Scam Voicemail Message from "Xfinity" calling from [Edited]
Hi. This afternoon I received a voicemail message from a caller at [Edited: "Personal Information"]. The message said it was Xfinity calling to warn me that my bill was about to go UP by 50% if I didn't call them back. It sounded like it was using the same computer generated voice that Xfinity actually uses. I logged into our account online, and confirmed there's no notice about any billing increase. So I called the number back out of curiosity. The scammers did a great job of imitating Xfinity...same hold music, same voice. I hit zero, and got a guy without any discernable accent (at first). I said I was calling because I'd received a weird call. He then asked was is a call or a voicemail. I confirmed it was a voicemail, and it told me my bill was going to go up by 50%. He asked me who I am, and I said I'm just calling to figure out if it's a scam. LOL...he becomes belligerent and asks me if I'm a scammer. I said "No, I'm trying to figure out if I got a call from a scammer." So then the becomes more belligerent and acquires and accent (India? Pakistan?) and starts asking me how I'd feel if I were called a scammer. I said let me talk to your security dept. He said "Sure," then disconnects me. So...heads up everyone. If you get a call from [Edited: "Personal Information"] (NJ number) purporting to be Xfinity, it's not.
