Storm-Ready Wifi Issue: "Connection Status" is "Offline"

My normal internet is out and the storm ready wifi is not working (two days in a row). The app says "you're connected with storm ready wifi", but when I go into the storm ready device in my app it shows cellular data is "unknown signal", battery backup is "unknown". Clicking into device details shows that the "connection status" is "offline". Power is no longer out so battery isn't needed. The light on the storm ready wifi device is solid white. I've gone through the troubleshooting guide including restarting and plug/unplug both the storm ready device and my gateway... many times. No customer service available to connect to. Need assistance.

Hello @user_u9tbjv thanks for the detailed post and for taking the time to troubleshoot your Storm ready Wi-Fi device. It sounds like it may not be connecting to Cellular LTE. Have you tried moving the Pod near a window or testing it in different locations in your home?

Yes, I did pull the device out into the open next to a window. Do you think the issue is just that it isn't connecting to Cellular LTE, given that it shows as "offline" and the app can't determine not only the cell data signal, but also can't determine the battery backup status? Seems like there is a deeper issue, any thoughts?

Thank you for letting us know that you tried that @user_u9tbjv, we appreciate it. It may be a deeper issue and we are happy to help get to the bottom of it. I know you stated you ran through troubleshooting steps, to confirm, did you try to reboot the Storm-Ready device by holding the reset button for 15 seconds? May I also ask how long you have had your storm ready device?

Thank you for the suggestion. I have previously unplugged and plugged back in the device to restart it, but I had not used the reset button. I just rebooted the storm ready device by holding the reset button for 15 seconds, now both the storm ready device and the battery have blinking white lights (instead of solid). According to the Xfinity table describing the lights, both devices blinking means "storm ready activation". However, the device is already active, and when I tried in the app to "activate xfinity storm ready wifi" it tells me "your storm ready device is already activated". So now it appears I'm stuck with the devices trying to activate. The other change is that when I go to the wifi tab in my app it now says "you're offline".

Gotcha, thank you for trying that @user_u9tbjv, and letting us know that you are now getting a blinking light. Let's take a closer look at your equipment and troubleshoot further. To get started, can you please send us a Direct Message with your first and last name along with the service address on the account?

To send a "Direct Message" ("Private") message:

Click "Sign In" if necessary

  • Click the "Direct Message chat" icon
  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  • Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  • Press Enter to send it

We look forward to working with you further. 😀

One additional note. I tried to unplug and plug back in the device again, to hopefully resolve the device stuck trying to activate, but it goes back to blinking lights on both the storm ready device and battery... so now seem to be stuck with the devices trying to activate, although the xfinity app won't let me reactivate it since it thinks it is already activated.
