Want to replace new cable box with XG1V4

I recently ordered a new cable box for my 4k tv over the phone. I asked for a 4K UHD compatible box with RF cable connector. I was sent a wireless cable box. I took this box to the local xfinity store and was given another box with an RF connector. However, this box is a PXD01 and is not 4K compatible. I would like to replace this box with an XG1V4 box. Can you help me do this?

Hello rja52 thank you so much for taking the time and reaching out here on our Xfinity Forums with these 4K cable box questions! Is the box we're trying to replace the main cable box, or a secondary? The XG1v4 is a main box only, device, and a Xi6 would be needed for 4K compatibility as a secondary box when a XG1v4 is already on as a primary.

I see. Yes, this is a secondary box and the main box is an XG1v4. My concern with the Xi6 box is that it is wireless and the speeds would not be as fast as a box with an antenna coax connection.

I do completely understand the concerns, @rja52! I would not be eligible for the XG1v4 as the secondary box. The speeds and services are seamless typically, but if there are concerns that arise, we can certainly help with troubleshooting the concerns.

Also - I have my own router and cable modem. Is the Xi6 fully compatible with customer owned routers/modems? I know this hasn't always been the case but it appears to have changed.

rja52 Yes, the wireless boxes are compatible with customer owned modems. Here is some additional information on the wireless boxes. Please let me know if there are any other questions I can answer for you today.
