Why Skycast?

I have my DVR scheduled to record all University of Georgia Football games, but the DVR recorded the Skycast version of the GA vs. KY games and the audio was TERRIBLE. The game was also apparently broadcast elsewhere as a traditional telecast, so why was the Skycast format chosen for my recording without either giving me a choice or recording both versions? I had to find a replay of the game [not marked as Skycast] in order to watch it and actually hear the play-by-play over the background noise of the stadium. I've had nothing but bad luck with the Skycast format, and do NOT want it chosen for me for recordings.

Hello @CastleLady If I had to guess it sounds like it is recording all the games on the original channel you set the recording for. If the game is nationally televised on a different network you will need to set an individual recording for that network.

@XfinityMatthew I set up a series recording to record all UGA football games regardless of channel. If it were being broadcast on two channels, the DVR would normally record both versions unless I told it (manually) not to. It has done so in the past, but for some reason it did not do so this time, and I was stuck with only the recording of the Skycast version, in which the audio of the play-by-play was virtually inaudible. Fortunately, I was able to later record a Replay of the game, NOT marked as a Skycast, in which the sound was perfectly fine. It just took me longer to actually watch and to fully appreciate the game. I was hoping to understand what happened to prevent it from happening again.

@XfinityMatthew You might well be right. I simply did not know that the LIVE cast was going to be Skycast, or I'd have looked (very actively) for a different option prior to the game. Does the DVR schedule always show clearly when this is the case, because I'd rather not have this happen again if it can be avoided. I am not seeing any mention of format, for example, on the upcoming Georgia vs. Auburn game, so I'm hoping/assuming that this one will not be telecast in a (to me) undesirable alternate format. ;-)

We cannot fully know how each program will be broadcast until that information is made available by the network broadcasting it.  One thing I think will be very helpful though is our X1 Sports Zone App, available by saying "Sports App" into your X1 remote!

This will provide you with a full guide of all games for a specific team,, and allows you to set recordings based on what channels they're playing on.
