XB10 Bolingbrook, IL
Before receiving my XB10, I was already on the 2GB service using my own equipment (Netgear CM3000). I checked a few days ago about symmetrical upload/download speeds and lo and behold, 2Gb with 2Gb down is now available to me at my address. Not to mention, I've been paying for unlimited data that now comes with the new updated plans. I immediately called to be upgraded to discover that my CM3000 isn't compliant since the new services require DOCSIS 4 to take full advantage of the new speed and features. I then agreed to switch to XFINITY equipment with the understanding that I'll be using it in BRIDGE mode since I already have a robust MESH system. I was told that would be no issue. The very next day, I received via FEDEX my brand new XFINITY XB10! I immediately activated it using the XFINITY app and got it going pretty quickly. I then go to perform speediest only to discover that I'm still getting the same speeds as before, 2GB download and roughly 300 mbps for upload. I then initiated support through the app because I figured it's not provisioned properly and maybe I don't have the correct boot loader. The representative I chatted with was unable to help me and didn't even see that I had the XB10 and that I had activated it. He did something on his end and said it would be resolved in an hour.
After a couple hours, I rebooted the XB10 and I have the same issue. I then called support and talked to a very nice gentleman who shall remain nameless, and had been providing support for the company for over 15-years. I was stoked to say the least. He began to check into the situation at which time I advised him that I had configured the XB10 for BRIDGE mode and he thanked me for that information. Once he got into the device and also looking at some sort of other system he has access to, he told me that on his end, the XB10 is NOT showing that it's in BRIDGE mode. He also questioned how I was able to do so. I advised him that I activated the unit per regular with the app. I then created a WIFI network SSID so that I could then access the unit at 10.0.0.1 and I used the supplied password printed on the underside of the XB10. I then enabled BRIDGE mode then connected one of the 10GB ports to my MESH systems INTERNET port. He insisted that it wasn't in BRIDGE mode and said that the unit wasn't designed for me to have access to to be able to do so. He was unable to either enable or disable BRIDGE mode on his end. Further more, he questioned if the service was even available at my address yet. I assured him that I went through the proper channels, received the XB10 directly from XFINITY, and activated it per the included instructions. The gentleman did everything he could do to help me, but simply was unable to. In fact, he tole me that I was the very first customer he's encountered that has the XB10.
I decided to keep the XB10 activated with the hope that I can get what I believe to be a provisioning issue resolved since I'm at least where I was with regard to speed prior to activating the XB10. Can someone PLEASE help me out here?
