XB8

I have been in a store and talked to customer service on the phone and keep getting different answers. I would like the XB8 gateway, I have 1.2 gig internet and still using the XB6. I tried the XB7 and got worse internet speeds. I am at least getting 600mb speeds on the XB6, when I tried the XB7 it dropped to 150mb down. I was told by customer service that I just needed to go into my local store and pick one up, well when I got there I was told that it had to be done online until they were available in store. I would really like to figure out how to get an XB8 so I can finally use the speeds I am paying for.

Thank you.

Hello @clarkcl1123 Thank you so much for reaching out and having an interest in our latest gateway! I understand you receive some mixed information and it's going to seem like another wild chase, but I assure you that I have the latest details on obtaining a XB8 gateway.

Currently the XB8 is being trialed in specific areas, is only available with a professional installation and being offered offered to our Diamond tier Xfinity rewards customers. Since you have out gigabit tier you may also be eligible for the XB8 since they are also being made available to customer with gigabit and our xFi complete services.

I would love to check your account to see if the XB8 is available in your area and help set up the needed orders to have one installed. It is a bit concerning that your speeds are that low and worse with the XB7. Even is we are not able to get a XB8 for you. I would still love the opportunity to help fix the slow speeds. Please send me a direct message with your name and address so I can check into our options.

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

I just went from a xb7 to a xb8 yesterday. My laptop was averaging speeds of 500-650 mbps on the xb7 ( I too have the 1.2 gb plan) on the xb8 I am only getting 60 mbps max so far on my laptop. That is after adjustments. My tv will not buffer ahead long enough to stop cutting out. It is a drastic difference and not in the way I was hoping for.

@user_a96095 That is awesome you were able to receive one of the newer XB8 modems. I am sorry to hear that you are running into those lower speeds. Have you tried to run a refresh signal to the modem through the Xfinity My Account app since activating the device? This link https://comca.st/39Pz17L will walk you through that process.

I no longer work for Comcast.

Tech install. They came out to fix my xb7. Ended up saying it needed to be replaced but they didn't bring any with them to replace it with. Took my xb7 and left for a while and came back with a xb8

I get about 700 Mbps on my cell, if I leave network usage set to detect automatically and to use a randomized Mac. If I change either of those it connects over to the 2.4ghz and I slow down to less than 100 Mbps. As long as those settings are set up the way I said though, I connect to the 5ghz and get around 600-700 mbps. Also note that I have a Motorola g100, with wifi 6 support and that this wouldn't be as aggravating if it still allowed me to split my network into two signals. That way I could just put the 2.4 ghz devices (like my smart home equipment on) and the rest of my devices on the 5ghz. Which is what I did with the xb7

@XfinityDaisy  y'all might as well not even bother responding. I actually think you would be more helpful if you didn't.

It also manages all the settings (as usual) but with the xb8 it does not allow my devices to connect to wifi 6. It shows a 2.4ghz a 5ghz and then the ax but you can not change the ssid to anything different. all three have to be set to the same ssid, there is no changing any of them and none of my wifi 6 devices are allowed to use it.
