5GHz and 2.4 GHZ

Talked to technical person about 2.4 GHZ WiFi connection for security camera. I show only the 5. He did not know which line was the 5 and which was the 2.4. After “figuring it out” he had me change the name for WiFi and PW. Went to connect the camera and my WiFi with a new name is 5 GHZ.
now what do I do????!

Hello @user_4e05fe

Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Xfinity Forums for support.

We have this super-nifty guide that goes over how to manage your wifi network yourself!

How to Change Your Home Network's WiFi Channel Selection or Mode

In short, you will need to give your 2.4 and 5g networks different/unique names in order to separate them. This will then give you the ability to specify which network your devices are connecting to instead of allowing them to automatically connect to whichever they have a better connection to.

Give that a try and let us know if it helps or if you need an extra hand. :)

@XfinityTambrey I talked to a tech support person on the phone. He named the 2.4 GHz band but when I tried to connect the camera I got the prompt that camera could not connect to a 5 GHz band. So he just renamed the 5GHz. How will I prevent this from happening when I try to name the 2.4.

I have been to the Xfinity store twice and was told both times that their is only one band not 2. Guess I need some help please
