Can't sign into Xfinity Home

I have been having this problem all year.  I have the Xfinity Home app on my Android phone.  I don't use this app. that often -- mainly when going on vacations.  After I am logged in for a couple weeks, it disconnects and I can't log in again.  I go to log in, and after I press the "Sign In" button, it just goes back to the sign-in screen again.  It doesn't say my password is wrong - just won't let me sign in.

I'm sure my email and password are correct, because I can log out from Comcast on my PC, and log in using that email and password and it works just fine.  And I am logged into the Xfinity app. on my smart phone -- that works fine as well.

If I want to log in, I found out that I have to go on my PC and change my Xfinity password, and then I can log in with the new password, until it disconnects in a few weeks.  But when I do that, I have to change the log in password for all the devices I connect to my Comcast account with.  The only thing I haven't tried to correct the problem is to uninstall the app. and reinstall it again.  So I need to use the keypad in my house to arm and disarm the alarm when Xfinity Home is not working.  Please help.  This is annoying.

Thank you for reaching out to us @littlepeaks! I really appreciate the details you’ve shared! Do you have any extensions on your device’s browser that block cache and/or cookies?

For troubleshooting purposes, could you please:

  1. Clear cache and cookies in the browser of the device having this issue.
  2. Close the browser's app.
  3. Go to our site.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
  5. Select Cookie Preferences.
  6. Select “Accept All”.'
  7. Then select “Save Changes”.
  8. Then attempt to sign in to the Xfinity Home App.

You may need repeat these steps on your device's default web browser (if different). For example, I prefer to use the chrome app on my iPhone, but apps like the Xfinity app still pull up a window in Safari when asking me to enter my username information.

That worked.  But could you please explain why that worked?

I had problems deleting the cache and the cookies in my browser (I've never done that on an Android phone before -- I usually use a PC for browsing), but I finally figured it out.  I had problems where it wasn't deleting everything.  So finally I got it to wipe out everything, and it took about 2 minutes to delete everything.  BTW, even though I followed your instructions about cookie preferences and accepting all, I did not sign into Xfinity on the Chrome Browser (was I supposed to?)

Again, please give me a clue about what the problem was and why this worked.  Thanks again.

That’s fantastic news @littlepeaks! Our apps go through our website to verify login credentials before loading. Occasionally, the cache data stored by the browser can cause an infinite login issue like this. It could just be using cache data from a previous app or browser update or possibly the cache itself is corrupted. Cookies can also help with authentication data. In instance where the cookies are causing an login loop, I’ve seen our site needs the cookie settings switched on or completely off and then accepted again to get through.
