FALSE ALARM FROM DOOR SENSOR

Armed my system at 8:27 pm

REAR DOOR sensor has "communication failure" at 8:49 pm

REAR DOOR sensor has "communication restored" at 1:35 am

ALARM at 1:36 am "rear door opened"

Rear door "Open& Closed" at 1:36 am

Rear door "Open& Closed" at 1:36 am (yes this shows up twice)

DISARMED at touchscreen at 1:36 am (by me)

QUESTION:  It was my understanding that a communication failure could not cause an alarm.  What caused this one?

I've had this system for a long time and this is our first false door sensor event.  The door was closed and locked when I found it.  My cameras showed no activity.  It was a true false alarm.

Thanks

Greetings, @tim_t35fu7s! Thanks so much for taking a moment out of your busy day to leave a post on our community forum. I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with your security system, but you have definitely come to the right place for assistance.

It sounds like your sensor may have cut out a few times. The first time lasted a few hours, but never triggered an alarm, then a few more happened, a few seconds apart, which read more like a door being opened and closed. Have you had any other issues with this sensor since it happened, or did you bypass it to avoid another false alarm?

@XfinityJamesC

Thanks for the response James.

The same door sensor has not caused another false alarm.  The closest door to it did the next night within a few minutes of setting the alarm.

In the week or so prior to any of this, the same two doors had indicated communication/battery issues with the touchscreen. I used Energizer 2032s I had on hand.  Yesterday the REAR door gave me a near battery warning and then a communication failure.  I replaced both doors batteries with new Duracell on 10-9-2021.  We shall see.  I will restart this thread if they act up. This has been the first problem I have ever had.

Again, Thanks!

@tim_t35fu7s Thanks for changing the batteries. I found the incoming signal to the modem has some issues and there is work being done in your area which can impact service. Have you experienced and internet issues? Normally it does not cause what you experienced, but in most cases, it is the batteries or battery related(how it sits in sensor). The signal issue could be related to the area work, but I would like to keep an eye on it and follow up here if I don't hear from you.
