Identity Verification

On a recent call with an Xfinity Mobile representative, I was asked for my full social security number and date of birth. Is this standard practice for them to do?

Good evening user_c7zkmp I can certainly understand your concern. When looking to sign up for Xfinity Mobile or when looking to get or review new devices, we do need to have you enter that information. Our system is set up so that you enter it on the keypad of your device though. When you enter it, it does not show your information on our end. When you went through the process with our Mobile team, did you enter the information manually on your device?

Yes, I entered both date of birth and social security number on the keypad of my phone.

Okay, that is the way we handle those interactions, as it keeps your information private and secure. On our end we are unable to see the numbers entered for your protection. It only shows asterisks when you press the buttons. Please let me know if this helps.
