... the IMAP Comcast password is incorrect. ...

If you are using Comcast's servers (mail.comcast.net, imap.comcast.net, and smtp.comcast.net), the email password is the same as the password you use to log in to a Comcast/Xfinity web page or app. There is no separate "IMAP password". If you need to reset it, see https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/changing-or-resetting-your-password. If you change it online you'll also have to update it on any devices, apps, and programs (email, Xfinity app. etc.) that use it.

If you are accessing a Comcast.net email account that has been migrated to Yahoo, you would use their servers (pop.mail.yahoo.com or imap.mail.yahoo.com, and smtp.mail.yahoo.com), and the email password is the same as the password you use to log in to Yahoo.com.

smartzones Hello, thank you for reaching out via our Xfinity Community Forums. I understand how frustrating it is to constantly see a pop-up claiming your Xfinity IMAP password is incorrect on your Apple device when you know it's right. This usually means your iPhone or iPad is storing an outdated credential.

Here are the specific steps to fix this on your Apple product:

1. Verify Your Password

First, confirm your current password is correct by successfully logging into the Xfinity website using a web browser. If you can't log in there, you must reset your password first.

2. Update the Stored Password

The fastest fix is forcing the device to accept the correct password:

  1. Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts.

  2. Tap on your Xfinity account.

  3. Tap the Account field again.

  4. Delete the existing password and manually re-type your current Xfinity password.

3. App-Specific Password (If Using Two-Step)

If you use Xfinity's Two-Step Verification, older mail apps might require an App-Specific Password instead of your main password. You would need to generate this unique password from your Xfinity online security settings and use it when prompted by the Apple Mail app.

If the error persists after these steps, deleting and re-adding the account is the final solution to reset the corrupted settings.

Let me know if you have an questions along the way.
