iPhone trade-in phone number issue

Has anyone done the xfinity trade-in and been told their original phone number cannot be associated with their new phone until the trade-in device is received? And that it could take up to 21 days for them to receive it? 
This is a complete nightmare. I was told by xfinity (via phone call before activating) that my original number would immediately be associated once the activation process was complete. I told her great and to go ahead with the process then.
i followed her instructions carefully and powered on my new iPhone. I called a family member and I showed up as a random number. I checked my settings and sure enough this phone has a new number.

My old iPhone is in factory mode (per the instructions I was given).
I called xfinity and they told me the above (that I can’t get my phone number back until they receive my old phone)

has anyone gone through this and had it resolved?!

@user_j2sc21 I've never heard of this when trading in a phone. Issuing a new number, and holding your old number hostage until trade-in received. Seems like somebody made a huge mistake!! And hopefully you can get your old number back! I would contact Xfinity Mobile again to get this resolved ASAP!!

user_j2sc21 Thank you so much for your post for help with your mobile number. To my knowledge unless porting in a number from another provider there would be no delay in transferring services for a phone number to a new device. Are you porting in a phone number from a different provider with this trade-in offer? 

 

If you were already a Xfinity customer before and are trading in your old Xfinity phone are you still seeing your old phone number active in your Xfinity app? 

You stated that our team advised you of the 21 days, was this over the phone at 1(888)936-4968 or a Chat agent?
