adding another email account

I have tried over and over and over again to add my gmail account to my comcast email. The message that pops up is "the provided password for the email address (my gmail address) is incorrect".  It most certainly is NOT incorrect - I know my gmail password, I use it every day. What is the problem? Why is this so difficult to do?

By the way, please stop calling the non-human chat "live chat" - it is anything but, and getting help using it is an effort in futility.

@mtngigi Good afternoon! We appreciate you bringing this difficulty to our attention, and I'd be delighted to assist you in getting your personal email linked to your account. To begin, can you please send a Direct Message with your name, the service address, the User ID you are trying to link the gmail account to, and your Gmail email address? 

 

 

Click "Sign In" if necessary
Click the "Direct Messaging" icon at the top of the page (looks like a text bubble)
Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
Press Enter to send it

Why, after clicking on the pencil/paper option, are there already messages present in the text area that I cannot delete?

I didn't notice they were my old posts. 1) Maybe mention that in your instructions, because I didn't read nor note that they were my ancient posts. 2) Mixing old posts in with new ones is just weird ... can we say "archive"

Please let me know if you are able to do this. I'm under the impression that Gmail accounts cannot be added to Comcast's webmail (it lacks Oauth2).

No problem - I will keep you posted after following the steps suggested. Though I do not hold out hope they will work, because I've experienced other issues between gmails and comcast emails. We'll see.

Just to add-------I don't think you can add iCloud accounts either.  You get the same error saying the password is incorrect.

Good to know. as I have an iCloud account as well. I wonder what the problem is? Sounds like something that should be addressed in general, and not just because of a few posts. It also sounds like it might be pointless for me to go through the steps suggested, since I'm obviously not the only one experiencing this issue.
