Adding email to my computer app

Been trying all morning to add my email account to my new outlook app. Was able to add my wife’s and my mother’s but not mine.

even had Microsoft support online for over an hour. No luck.

Also cannot add it to my iPhone email app.

Hello, @user_1sp209, and sorry for the inconvenience setting up your email. Are the devices you and your wife using different brands? Let me know if any of these steps differ from what you did.

To set up your Comcast email in Outlook, follow these steps:

  1. Open Outlook and select File, then Account Settings.
  2. Choose your Comcast email account and click Change....
  3. Confirm the account type is POP and click More Settings.
  4. In the Advanced tab, check Leave a copy of messages on the server and click OK.
  5. Select File, then Add Accounts.
  6. Enter your Comcast email address and password, then click Next.
  7. The account will be configured via IMAP; click Finish.

To set up your Comcast email on an iPhone, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings and tap Add Account.
  2. Select Other and then tap Add Mail Account.
  3. Enter your Comcast email account details and tap Next.
  4. Enable Mail and Notes on the IMAP screen, then tap Save.

Using the same computer. The computer updated with new outlook. Her account went over. Mine did not.

on my phone, I can’t add my account using the same mail so I’ve been using for years.

Also, when opening outlook for the first time, it takes you to set up. My email defaults into the request. Then I put in my password. After that, it “thinks” for a while then tells me my user name and/or password is wrong.

since I’m in on the Internet page and Xfinity app with those credentials, I don’t know why outlook can’t use them.

@user_1sp209 Can you confirm this is not the issue:

Update email security settings

  1. Sign in to Xfinity Email using your Xfinity ID and password.
  2. In the top-right corner, click the Gear icon, then select Settings.
  3. Click Security.
  4. Uncheck the box under Third Party Access Security to prevent third-party programs access to your Xfinity Email, or check the box to allow access.
Screenshot of the Security information. The Third Party Access Security option is unchecked at the bottom of the list.

user_1sp209, got it, thank you for confirming. If you followed the Outlook instructions and the third party access, you should be good to go. Are you able to access you email directly on our direct website?
