Cannot Add Comcast email to Outlook android app on Samsung Galaxy S25 phone
My problem appears to be same as problem in post opened by user bigblockelectra on 2/23/2025 with post title "Cannot setup Comcast email on Outlook app with new Samsung S25". As of today, 4/24/2025, two months later, user bigblockelectra's problem has not been resolved.
This is my experience trying to resolve problem using information obtained from other similar user posts.
I got a new Samsung Galaxy S25+ phone. Easily transferred all data from old phone (Galaxy S10) to new phone.
Cellular service transferred to new phone. All apps continue to work on old phone using wi-fi, including Outlook email.
Microsoft Outlook android email app was installed but not setup on new phone. I use Outlook for my 2 email addresses; a Comcast email address ending in domain comcast.net and a non-Comcast email address. I used ADD ACCOUNT in Outlook to add non-Comcast email address to Outlook. ADD was successful with non-Comcast email address. I used ADD ACCOUNT in Outlook to add comcast.net email address to Outlook. ADD was not successful. Received error "Unable to login".
Here are the diagnostic steps I did before opening this post:
* Signed on to my Comcast email using web browser. Went to Settings (gear icon), "Email Setting", "Security", verified "Third Party Access Security" is checked. I access my email on my old phone using Outlook (Android) and my laptop using Outlook 365 (Windows 11). My email on Comcast server was converted from POP to IMAP years ago.
* Verified all software on phone is updated, including Android version 15 and One UI version 7.0. I uninstalled Outlook app and reinstalled Outlook app from Play Store. I'm using Outlook version 4.2514.1 "Last updated April 16, 2025" (shown in Play Store). After re-installation of outlook, I cleared "cache".
* I opened Outlook app on phone, selected ADD ACCOUNT to add existing email address to Outlook:
- Entered my full Comcast email address (Continue)
- Selected IMAP
- Skipped entering Password, Display Name, Description; Set to Enable Advanced Settings
- Entered Display Name: (my name)
- Entered Description: (one word to identify email account)
- Incoming Mail Server: imap.comcast.net Port 993
- Security Type: SSL/TLS
- IMAP Username: (my full email address)
- IMAP Password (my pw for server, verified in clear text)
- Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.comcast.net Port: 587 (also tried Port: 465)
- Security Type: SSL/TLS
- SMTP Username: (my full email address)
- SMTP Password: (my pw for server, verified in clear text)
* Submit the above values by tapping check mark in upper right corner.
* Received message Authorization In Progress for abount 5 seconds.
* Received message Unable To Login
I would appear to me that the Microsoft Outlook Android Email App is not working. The interface between the Outlook app and the Comcast servers is broken.
Hey Comcast Technical Support, if you think this is a Microsoft problem, open a support ticket with Microsoft and get them to fix it. A fixed app will roll out from the Play Store.

I'm having the same issue. I'm using a Samsung S25 Ultra. I'm also having the same problem with my Outlook for Windows client. All other email providers are working fine but neither of my 'comcast.net' accounts can log in. Yes, I'm entering the correct password. I can log in using the web client.
Any help would be appreciated...

I had the same problem and found no help from Comcast online. After trying several different things, replacing the IMAP Username and SMTP Username with my screenname (without the comcast.net) fixed the problem! I'm in!

Same problem here and talked to 3 agents at xfinity, it was escalated. They were all nice and helpful. I even tried to update my password in control panel to match the new xfinity password and it was not found. I was told to contact outlook assistance (microsoft only has help "links"-no customer service for this issue)-no dice. I was told by last xfinity agent that there was some kind of update to outlook and that might be the issue. I was told several years ago that using a comcast email when we no longer have their services (we moved, new internet provider) may eventually be an issue. Not looking to redo my email to a new account with outlook.com account.
