Comcast.net email is going away!

I was told by an XFinity employee that the Comcast.net email is going to go away and I need to find a new email provider. Is this a true statement from the employee???

Maybe. https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/account-email-information says:

... Beginning June 3, 2024, customers will not be able to create new Xfinity Email (comcast.net) accounts.

If you have an existing Xfinity Email account, you can continue to access and use your existing Xfinity Email account ...

No idea how long it will be between "no new email addresses" and "no email addresses".

Since new Comcast internet customers now cannot have a Comcast email account, and existing customers can no longer create new secondary accounts, it means the total number of people using the email will keep dwindling due to normal attrition.  Since the given reason for the new policy is "too few customers are using it"-------it does not bode well for the long run.

Just sayin  🤨

I was never given a  reason why it was going away. Where is the notification from XFinity that this is going to happen?

They never gave us one. They just posted the "account-email-information" article and pulled the plug. Unusually low, even for Comcast. Usually when they take something away they give us advance notice. Not this time. And IMHO this was a MAJOR change.

Thanks for reaching out the change doesn't affect current e-mail accounts it only affects the ability for customers to create new Xfinity e-mail accounts, For more information please go to https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/account-email-information

Or https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/email/beginning-june-3-2024-customers-will-not-be-able-to-create-new-xfinity-email-comcastnet-accounts/666653961e56d61567fa1f02

Suggestion------------Pin a post about this subject with links to the top of the email forum.  Right now there is nothing up there about it, and we will keep getting questions like this since there was no

advance notice about it.  At least with the pinned post readers will have a chance to see it before posting.

Do they understand, for some of us that have used our Comcast.net email for 20 years, how hard it will be to change everywhere used? Especially NOW with everyone doing MFA? In the ealy days, it was always about sending an email to verify... Oh well, lots of work for customers to adjust...

I've had my comcast.net email for almost 30 years.  I tried signing in to xfinity today and I can't get in.  I tried giving them my user name, phone number, password, and I get "that's not in our records."

I'm having the same issue after more than 2 decades. It worked early this morning, and then it stopped. I keep getting the message "The Xfinity ID or password you entered was incorrect. Please try again."

I had the same issue with my wife’s email. It stopped working exactly 90 days after they implemented their policy. I logged in manually with her id on the Xfinity website and checked email. The next day her email began functioning again on her iPhone.

I scheduled a reminder to check email on the Xfinity website every 90 days to prevent the email from cancellation.

No notification from Xfinity on this policy change. The policy and its implementation were designed to strand, confuse and frustrate email users and make them go away. Shame on Xfinity. They’re starting to act like Bell telephone in 1960.

Good afternoon @user_fk8ka1! The email accounts must be accessed using the Xfinity Email website in the 90 days prior to disconnecting service.

Your email account will remain active if you access it using the Xfinity Email website at least once every nine months.

Not a smart move?

The only reason that I have been with comcast over 20 yrs is because it was easier to use my existing email address with them. Changing emails is time consuming for me. Since I am now forced to change email, I no longer have to stay with comcast. I wonder how many customers feel the same way?

Or perhaps it is a smart move.

Since their is no competition in the U.S. for fast internet service, maybe it is a smart move to decrease cost. Verizon Fios is limited to certain areas.
