Comcast/Xfinity's email address policy
Is my understanding of the following points correct?
- It is no longer possible to create a new Comcast.net email address, not even for the Primary user ID
- It is no longer possible to modify an existing Comcast.net email address
- If you don't have a Comcast.net email address, you can't open https://connect.xfinity.com
- If you don't have a Comcast.net email address, attempting to open https://connect.xfinity.com doesn't tell you that you can't do that. Instead, it redirects to https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/account-email-information which fails to explain what is happening
- The Xfinity Verified Email logo only works in https://connect.xfinity.com, only for Comcast.net email addresses. It does not work in 3rd party email programs or apps
- Preventing creation of new Comcast.net email addresses has also killed https://connect.xfinity.com and the Xfinity Verified Email logo for those users now forced to use 3rd party email addresses
IMHO to save a few pennies, the company has shot itself in the foot, disabled a component of email security, and done a great disservice to its customers.
If I'm wrong about any of these or have overlooked something, please let me know!
