Email delays

I am on the website team for a large 55 and over community in South Jersey. We have over 1200 homes with close to 2000 residents. It’s become apparent, through my personal experience and that of hundreds of other residents, that there is a significant problem with Xfinity email. I would estimate that there over 1000 Xfinity email customers in our community. Most are experiencing email delivery delays of 1-5 hours from the time they are sent til the time they are received. This came to a head during a recent website update that required a response from the users that had a “time-out” limit of 3 hours from the time they logged on until they received an email response. Few (if any) Xfinity users received the email within that time. No one with any other provider had the issue. Yahoo, Gmail, Verizon, Outlook and any other provider…including AOL…had no issues.  Xfinity, however, caused a nightmare of manual input by our team for hundreds of accounts. A senior community like ours can be very dependent on timely communication from management. In the recent ice storm, emergency communications from management took as long as 5 hours to get to Xfinity users here. Everyone else, a matter of minutes. Needless to say, this is not acceptable. Please look into this issue and provide any help you possibly can. Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to explain what your community has been experiencing. I can imagine how disruptive these email delays have been, especially for a community that relies on timely updates @Tbird2004!

I want to share some important information regarding Xfinity email. In June 2025, we began upgrading Xfinity email accounts to Yahoo email. You can find full details about the migration and what to expect here.

We also have this page for the upgrade to Yahoo here.

Could you please ask members of the community if they’ve received notifications about accepting Yahoo’s terms and upgrading their emails?

I posted the question about Yahoo to all residents but only found a dozen or so who made the changeover. Of those, one still reported email delays of up to an hour. I myself had an issue today with a major website’s security confirmation codes repeatedly timing out. (I am still on the legacy system and have not received the Yahoo terms and conditions email. Many of our residents still have not received it.)

As I mentioned originally, a community like ours often needs quick communication. We are not getting that as Comcast customers.

Please advise what can be done to resolve this. Thank you.

I can see how a delay may be frustrating. Keep in mind, we do have limits on our email system; you can review them in the FAQ page for email help here. Given that we have limits in place that delay messages being received or sent, we have to apply additional security precautions and filters to protect our network and recipients. If a sender has also been reported as spam in the past, it may affect the security filters applied.

There are no currently known issues related to email delays, so check out the FAQ and see if that provides any insight.
