I believe this is referred to as email "spoofing", when your own email address appears in the from field. I too have had this occur in the past few days. I hope someone at Xfinity/Comcast can respond with helpful info as to the threat this poses, if any, and what we can do about it. Marking it as "spam" seems counter-productive, as I sometimes send email to myself, so I would not want those to be blocked in my Inbox. Comcast, help!

@pegasus416 Thank you for your post. Spam and phishing attempts have gotten really creative lately. @wklearning is correct in that this is a type of spoofing. You can report these emails to our abuse team. You can find the instructions at https://internetsecurity.xfinity.com/help/report-abuse under "Report Spam and Phishing Emails" It is super important to copy and include the email headers. There is a link on the page that shows you how to do that. Thank you for your vigilance. It is super important to pay attention with emails and phone calls (texts too now!).

Also, you can find a list of current security alerts, including scams, at https://internetsecurity.xfinity.com/help/alerts. We are constantly updating this list as the scams change and evolve.

user_41wwn3 Hello, and thanks for reaching out to us for help with the email concern. I would be happy to confirm if the email is in fact from us for you.

Can you send us a direct message with your full name, name of account holder (if different), and service address please?

To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:

Click "Sign In" if necessary

Click the "Direct Messaging" icon (speech bubble)

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there

- As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list

- An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

Press Enter to send it
