Email issues Jan 3 and 4 2024

Yesterday morning Outlook would not work.  Xfinity required password reset.  SO I did. No problem resetting password and reading mail on connect.xfinity, but spent all day trying to get Outlook to work and my 2 phones.  All of a sudden yesterday evening bingo, all started working and syncing.  This morning, just like yesterday, Outlook and 2 phones do not work .  Phones say "cannot get mail comcast is currently unavailable"  I changed passwords 3 times yesterday before I finally had success.  I do not want to spend all day today messing with this.  I suspect that Comcast is having an email issue and it only works at night.  if so please advise.  Thanks.

user_9m28m3 Hi there. Have you tried disconnecting the accounts from outlook, and reconnecting them?

I first tried simply changing the password, but when that did not work I deleted the account, rebooted, then began added a new account.  I did this multiple times, each time with a new password having reset my xfinity password again and again.  I was very careful to enter the password correctly.  All of a sudden, around 7 PM in the evening, I got one of the phones to connect, so within minutes, I tried Outlook (it worked), then I fixed the other phone.  When I went to bed last night they were all working.  This morning it was like groundhogs day.  Nothing worked.

Airelle, when you say "disconnect" - do you mean delete the account or is there some other process to disconnect.

Airelle - new news.  All of a sudden my Outlook reconnected.  It is in the process of synchronizing (may take a while).  Regarding my original question, is Comcast Xfinity having any issues?

@user_9m28m3 We are aware that our email services may require maintenance and when that happens the password may need to be set. The good news is that if this happens is normally a short-term problem and should begin working correctly if it ever gives you any problems. It sounds like things are going in the right direction based on what you mentioned and if you're still having any trouble after it's done updating, please let us know.

Dear Xfinity - today, once again, I am preparing to try and correct my Outlook email issue.  After deleting my comcast account, I reinstalled.  It began recreating my Inbox, Spam, sent items, etc.  However, it stalled out.  Now, I am stuck with the dreaded "credential box" repeatedly appearing.  I enter the password and it comes right back again.  I have no VPN, nor is my "always ask for credential" box checked.  I have a huge mailbox (85% full) and it takes a long time to reload.  I do not look forward to another delete and restart.

Even though it is asking for my credentials, Outlook shows I am connected.  The progress box says "synchroizing subscribed folders" - but using task manager, I do not see any significant file transfer going on.

ANy more ideas?

@winkie I am sorry you are having issues with your email. Have you checked the link: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/configure-outlook-express-xfinity-internet?view=app to assist you with set up? You may need to remove your email and then reconnect the email address.

Glad I’m not crazy, I’m having the exact same issues!

I can report that my issue seems to be resolved, but I do not know why.  To recap, for several weeks I could not get my @comcast.net email thru either of my 2 iPhones nor Outlook.  I changed the password at least 6 times, deleted the account on phones and Outlook many times and each time it didn’t work.  The phones would come back “Comcast unavailable” and the Outlook would get stuck in the endless credential box loop.  Then one day I was out at the store with my wife (Jan 18) and she was trying on clothes - uggghhh.  I had nothing better to do, so once again I tried to delete and reinstall Comcast on my phone.  I about fell over. It worked!  I grabbed my wife’s phone and it also worked.    All of my prior attempts were at home.  This time I was using cellular data. The difference was, at home I connected first to the in-house wifi then into my Starlink. I decided one of them had to be my choke point.  So, when I got home, I logged my PC directly to the Starlink router and bingo, it worked.  I thought I had it figured out – in house wifi issue.  But, I decided to verify.  I deleted the account off my phone and attempted to reinstall using the in-house wifi.  Bingo, it worked, so I cannot blame the in-house wifi or Starlink.  I feel something happened at Comcast HQ and it was coincidence that I got it to work using cellular data.  However, if it happens again, I will try to corrected it the same way!

@user_9m28m3 That is great to hear! We do know our fix teams have been working on the backend to resolve the issue so we do hope the problem has been resolved permanently. If you have any other issues, please don't hesitate to reach back out.

i'm a former customer (moved out of your service area). I'm having the same issue--after resetting the passwords on my 4 email accounts (due to the data breach) I'm able to log into email online but when I try to update the passwords in Apple Mail and Outlook on PC I either get a "can't connect to server" message or the password request dialog keeps appearing in a loop (another connection failure indication). I've called Comcast support and been told there's no way to file a ticket to investigate since I don't have an active account, and even though the issue was escalated to a supervisor there's no way to tell me whether there's actually an issue or how to fix it since I'm not a customer. Is there a known issue with logins failing after password resets? If so, how can I find out when it's fixed? And/or, is there a way to escalate to a tech team to investigate the issue for my accounts?
