Email Issues

Email is unreliable today (12:38 PM, 01/11/2024).  I have attempted to connect to email via web browser (Chrome and Edge) several times from my desktop PC (Windows 11).  I am getting either timeouts or errors connecting to the email server.  When it happens to work, I get empty email message bodies when I click on email messages in my inbox.

Everything has been working fine for months.  Today, email is a big mess.  Nothing has changed on my system.  The cause of the issue must be on your end.

My email came back as well but when it replicated it only gives me my inbox.  It does not replicate the rest of my folders where I store important emails.  If I log into xfinity email on the system I can see my folders, but when I log in via Outlook, those folders do not replicate down.  I had originally opened those folders and used them on Outlook, but they went away when I had the access issue.

Do I have to do something special to replicate those down?   Thanks

I'm not getting emails in my inbox.  I even tested this by sending email from comcast account to another email account I have, it was received there right away and I replied to it.  I still haven't received in my inbox some time later.

@user_4fhvh6 Could you please send our team a direct message. Our team can most definitely take a further look at this issue. To send a "Direct Message" ("Private") message:
Click "Sign In" if necessary

@jmsjazzfan Thanks for letting us know. By any chance have you tried to reset your Comcast account password then tried to access your email again?

@XfinityPeterH No but I reset my account password several days before this incident occurred.  Alternatively, I logged out and logged into my account instead ... hoping to get my email service running reliably.  Several hours later, email operation was back to normal anyway.  BTW: I'm not the only one who experienced issues.  I received at least two 'likes' to my original post that reported this issue.  Other people were experiencing the same issues with email.

Good to hear your access is back. It was a know issue that affected some customers for 1-2 days, but the team working on it notified us that is should be resolved for all customers.

The IMAP server

"imap.comcast.net" doesn't support

Password authentication. Please check your account settings and try Agy

@user_etm0et I'm not currently having any trouble retrieving email from incoming mail server imap.comcast.net.  I'm currently using imap.comcast.net on my iPhone.  No issues.

I think you are incorrect.  Password authentication appears to be working.  My iPhone settings for imap.comcast.net are configured to use my current Comcast email password.  Again - no issues.

@user_etm0et I used the email setup instructions linked below.  I clicked on "iPhone or iPad" under "Select your program type ...".  The setup was automatic.  The comcast setup utility populated my email settings with incoming and outgoing mail server names.

I'm having this issue too.  I'm unable to access my email.  Getting a message that imap.comcast.net cannot be authenticated.
