Email loading very slowly.

For the past few weeks my Xfinity email (IMAP) has taken forever to load on my iPad. Not the mailbox itself but the individual emails. Upon opening an email it takes almost 2 minutes for the contents to load. This happened after I updated my iPad to the latest IOS.

Suggestions?

Hello, @stevet7. It seems like you're not alone in facing this issue after updating your iPad's iOS. Here are a few suggestions that might help:

Check Third-Party Access Security Settings: Some users have reported that enabling third-party access security in Xfinity email settings resolved their issues. You can find instructions here.

Adjust IMAP Path Prefix: On your iPad, go to Settings > Mail > Accounts > [Your IMAP Account] > Account Settings > Advanced. Locate the IMAP Path Prefix in the Incoming Settings section, then save changes and restart the Mail app.

Restart and Reinstall: Restart your iPad and try removing and re-adding your Xfinity email account. This has worked for some users.

Contact Apple Support: If the issue persists, it might be related to iOS compatibility. Apple Community discussions suggest that iOS updates sometimes cause email loading delays4.

Let me know if you'd like more detailed steps for any of these!

I tried the “adjust IMAP path prefix” step. Got all the way to the point of finding the “IMAP Path Prefix”. There were no numbers after it, just a forward slash. So there were no changes to save. What am I doing wrong?

@stevet7 Thanks for going through the steps. Have you attempted to remove the email from your iPad and then installing it back on there?

I have the same issue on my iPad.  However, the problem does not happen on my iPhone.  New mail content loads immediately on my iPhone.

I have the same problem on my iPad.  However, new mail content loads immediately on my iPhone.  Both are running ios 18.

is it possible that this is related to icloud syncing the emails?

@user_5h8ife Not really but I’ve narrowed it down. It happens only on my iPad, not on the iPhone. What does that suggest?

Same issue here. Happening for weeks. Using very fast computer and supposedly have very fast internet with Xfinity. Sub email accounts take even longer to load. I am not sure what the issue is. But it's annoying to be paying Comcast $$$ and having sub par service.

This is happening on my iPad, phone, iMac and wife's iPad and phone for some time now.  Happens at home on Xfininty high speed wifi and away from home on 5G.  Why?

It happens in their webmail on a fiber connection too, it's probably less a 'you' issue and more a 'they don't want to be in the email business anymore' issue

user_v6cm6x, Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to reach out. We appreciate you greatly for letting us know that the slow loading of the emails are happening over a fiber connection. I can definitely understand the inconvenience that this has caused you as I like to access my emails quickly too. Are you also noticing this on just the individual emails as well?
