Hi there @user_53itci the IMAP password should be the same password used for your email address. Sounds like you just need to reenter your current password.
Nope , I think it’s my email provider, I have 4 email accounts and with update CenturyLink and Comcast are the ones that failed. Gmail and iCloud accounts are fine.
Thanks for reaching out captaindonm! I know how important those emails are, so I want to help you get access back however I can 👍 If your iPhone prompts for an IMAP password after a software update, it may be due to changes in your email settings. To resolve this, go to Settings, tap Mail, then Accounts. Select your email account and re-enter your IMAP password. If you have switched from POP to IMAP, ensure that your account is correctly configured with the new settings. If issues persist, consider removing the account and adding it again using the IMAP settings. Please try this and let me know how it works!
user_53itci Have you tried removing and then re-adding the Comcast email account(s) to see if the error goes away after rebuilding them?

After an iPhone update I get the same message to add my password for imap. After adding, the message keeps popping up as I go through my mail. I have cleared out my cache, deleted and added my email. The imap settings are automatic from Comcast. I just add my password. Nothing works. There has to be a solution. Please…. HELP!
user_8b734a are you able to test your credentials by signing into https://www.xfinity.com/email? We want to make sure your Comcast.net email address and password are working.

I am very frustrated with comcast because the robot help doesn't understand the problem. I have the same problem as User 8b734a. Nothing works. I get and receive the mail on my tablet and can send but on my iPhone I cannot receive mail. I cannot figure out what settings to use.
I found the solution on an Apple support forum. This is yet another reason I’m done with Comcast. Credit to username morecalbel posted on 9-17-23.
Go to Comcast email on the web, go to settings on the upper right hand corner, click on security, click the box that allows third party apps to access the email account.
The 3rd party box has been checked and this hasn't worked for me. I have done all of the below suggestions...deleted email account and added back in, deleted and reinstalled the mail app, checked all settings, server etc. I can get all my email if I go to the xfinity site directly but I can get it linked to the mail app on my Iphone XS Max
Thank you so much for reaching out and adding your voice to the conversation user_0c36ed. Are you setting this up as an IMAP or POP connection, and are you using Apple Mail or Thunderbird?
The IMAP settings are shown below, but should be all set if you've had mail set up on the device before:
Incoming Mail Server Name: imap.comcast.net Incoming Mail Server Port Number: 993 with SSL ON If the Mail Client lets you select an authentication method, choose STARTTLS. If Needed: 143 with SSL ON Outgoing Mail Server Name: smtp.comcast.net Outgoing Mail Server Port Number: 587 (SMTP) If Needed: 465 (SMTPS) Encryption: TLS (use SSL if TLS isn't shown.) Authentication: Type in your Comcast.net email address

Have you already attempted to delete the account, and then re-add it?

I have the same problem with comast email on my iphone. It prompts me to enter the password for the imap account "comcast" I enter it, then get the same message prompting me to enter the impa password.
That's good to hear! Are all of your settings the same as before?

That fixed it for me anyway.
